Hey,
I have recently bought MSI HD5870 Lightning gfx card to use it on my 3x Samsung 2233 1920x1080 LCD as an eyefinity setup.
Monitors have only VGA analog connectors. I have 2 converters to use them on DVI and 1 converter to use on HDMI. However This didnt work.
Then I realized that we cannot connect anything on HDMI when we fill both of the DVI connectors. So I decided to buy a Displayport to VGA adapter.
I have gone to mall today and I found DP to DVI converter. it was about 20$ costs. I thought I could use it with one of my DVI to VGA converters. So I bought one.
SO I connected DP to DVI adapter along with the DVI to VGA converter and then plugged it on monitors vga plug. THat didnt work either. No signals on monitor that way.
So I plan to buy DP to VGA adapter which costs around 40$ and shop owner told me that it is active. I have spent much so far the reason I write here is that I dont wanna waste any money on converters anymore.
DO you think will it work with 2 x DVI to VGA converters and 1x DP to VGA active converter? Or what would u recommend me to get this thing to work?
any help would be much appreciated,
Is it possible to use 3x VGA LCD ?

I see no reason you cannot use 2x DVI -> VGA adapters for two of the monitors and one DP -> VGA adapter for the third monitor.
Although several people have posted that VGA "looks crap" on LCD, I have to say that, in MY case, I really cannot tell any significant difference in image quality between the two DVI screens and the one using the VGA input.
Even further, you SHOULD be able to even use one HDMI connection, one DVI, and one VGA in Eyefinity. The main thing is getting the right adapters that work properly.
I'm quite sold on the Monster DP -> VGA adapter I got although I paid $50 USD for it off the shelf at Fry's. It has worked for several weeks for me without any significant problems at all.

+1 This.
I personally am using 3 VGA adapters atm. No hiccups at all.
DP->VGA adapter range from very expensive to very cheap. I haven't seen people have any real issues with anyone of the adapters, no matter the price.

Re: Is it possible to use 3x VGA LCD ?
by the cheapest 2x vga to dvi and vga to DP adapters I managed it to work.
The only problem was that I am forced to buy 1 DP adapter for 100$ because I couldn't find it anywhere around Turkey. Shame on merchant .
it is passive and looks cheap it should be around 15$ as regular price.
anyway here's a video of the actual setup
