How many active DP adapters ?

Hi Widescreen-Community,

at the moment I'm using a Triplehead2Go Setup 3/1 and I'm planning an Eyfinity5-Setup as 3/1/1 with
- 3x24'' LCDs (HDMI) (already present)
- 1x24'' LCD (DVI) (already present)
- 1x42'' FullHD TV (not present)

My questions:
- Do I really need three active DP Adapters for this?
- Are there any FullHD TVs which have a DisplayPort?

You would be financially better off using a separate video card to drive the other two displays.

That way you could buy a cheaper 5870 not the 6 edition. You would also only need 1 active adapter.

You're right, that's generally an option.
But I have already the cheapest option concerning the video card. I want to use the Powercolor (or Club3D) 5770 Eyfinity-5 model.

He is saying use a eyefinity 3x1 card and then use a second card (dual dvi or dvi and vga) to drive the non eyefinity monitor/tv. This would be MUCH cheaper.

Old post, new solution:

Bought a HD5770 Flex (3 Monitors without DP-Adapter) and switched from GTX260+Triplehead to HD5770+GTX without Triplehead.

Result: 5 Monitors, all Native, no DP-Adapters, cheap
