5770 + Three 22" LCDs = Crysis?

Post by direwolf »

Hi All,

I'm off to get a new rig to play Crysis, well the Mechwarrior mod for Crysis to be exact.

My plan is to get a i5 750 and a HD 5770 with 4 Gig of RAM which I am hoping to run three 22" monitors. Will this rig be ok for Crysis or will I need the 5850 or 5870 card?

I would think that for Crysis, the better the card you can afford, the better it will be. Well, actually, that goes for everything... but a 5770 might struggle with Crysis on triplewide.

it looks like I will go with two 5770s in XFire. There is a huge shortage of 5850s and 5870s here and they are very hard to find

It depends on your definition of ok. What settings. I have a c2d 6850 at 3.5, 6 gigs ram and win 7 64bit. Maxed very high dx10 with 2xaa I get 25-30 frames. Put shaders to high and no aa I get 35-37 avg> This is with a 5970! And 3x1680x1050

5770 + Three 22" LCDs = Crysis?.........It sure does !

I have a very similar system to the one you are thinking of buying........

i5 750
HD 5770
3 X 22" monitors

And have just played Crysis all the way through.........

Played it at 1680 x 1050 on medium settings,it looked superb & it ran really smooth.

If i played it on high settings, then i would have had to drop the resolution down.

I'm waiting on a DP>VGA adapter to arrive so I can test out my new rig. I ended up going with two 5770s in Crossfire.

I did do a test of Crysis on two monitor Eyefinity and it works no problems. :D

Will do, once I get my adapter.

I gave it a test using two monitors on the MWLL Mod for Crysis. Posted some screen shots here: http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/forumtml#msg85985

I have no idea as I went straight to 2 x 5770s.

My old rig had a 7800 GTX that cost me about $800AUD three years ago. The two 5770s cost me $400AUD and tripled the performance.

Could you give me an idea of what FPS you are getting and with what resolution & settings ?

Is Crysis completely maxed out ?

Just an update. I OC my CPU from 2.67GHz to 2.80GHz and got a 10FPS increase. I see an average between 55-60 while playing the MWLL mod in Crysis too.

I get the same results in Crysis as I do in NFS: Shift if I enable Crossfire. Framerate drops to sub 10. Disable CF and I get about 25-30 FPS with no-AA and everything on High.

Looking forward to the next driver update.
