DICE Indicates Support for EyeFinity

Post by skipclarke »

After all the years of poor widescreen support (we even gave them our Narrow Minded Award), DICE is indicating that they are going to have proper Widescreen and EyeFinity support. One of their developers, repii, has indicated that they will support both technologies in Bad Company 2. They are currently testing the game in EyeFinity as part of the development process, and he does not feel that it should be considered cheating in multiplayer.

You can read all about it at the EA Bad Company 2 forums, and his personal Dev Blog. As a community we've been very vocal in the past about lack of support for WS and TH/EF. Please go drop by one or both of those sites and be just as vocal in your thanks for their support. As always, please be nice about it (i.e., no "It's about f-ing time"). Remember, you're representing the WSGF.

After playing the PS3 beta a while, Bad Company 2 has quickly become my most anticipated game, and I've been keeping my fingers crossed for EF/TH support. I'm SO FRIGGIN' EXCITED to hear that BC2 will have native support. Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to leave a message for the dev to let him know his efforts are appreciated.

Wow, talk about going the other way from IW! Totally different approach.
Professional... well I'll figure that out.

Me to, I love BFBC1 (on XBox) and play it heaps. I prefer it to BF2 now, although I miss the big maps, no Jet AirWhores (and you can shoot down helos with the AA gun, unlike 2 when the missile just gets flared off!). BFBC2 seems to just put the finishing touches on BC... spawn off any squad member, having numbers on the map for the crates, not opening up the next section for the attackers until after a delay to stop them hanging at the edge of the map and charging the next crate before the defenders can do anything, teabagging the snipers.. oh hang on I do that in all BF games :p

I am so looking forward to this game and a absolutely stoked that DICE/EA have gone from narrow minded to wide screen supporters! I think we have to thank ATI (even if you don't use EF per se) for bringing multi monitor gaming into main stream conciousness.

The future is bright...

BC2 is certainly highly anticipated down these ways, and the guys playing the PS3 beta are generally reporting good things so fingers crossed for the PC ver. and of course Eyefinity support !

I watched a 30 minute long video of the PS3 beta and it looks ace, the graphics were awesome even on PS3. I think this will be a massive PC hit if they handle it right and supporting Eyefinity is a great start for the enthusiasts.

Cool; got a linky for my XBox BFBC pals and PC BF2/2142 buddies?

Sure: http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-battlefield-bad-company-2-beta/17-1695/

That site does a 20-30 minute walkthrough for every game as they review it, I find it very helpful in deciding what games to buy to see the straight and uninterrupted gameplay. The site is console-focused but they actually do a fair bit of coverage on PC exclusives and a lot of these quick-looks are for the PC version of a game. This one is the PS3 version of the beta though, as said.

Thanks, have sent that out for the guys.

Just to show my BF love (or fanboyism, take your pick)

I wish the original was on PC... alas, it is not. It would be the awesomest thing every if they added the original into the PC version of BC2 but I guess that has about .01% chance of happening.

WSGF gets some credit!
http://bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&boardid=1&threadid=105364

A thread on the Electronic Arts UK Community Forums discusses widescreen support for Battlefield Bad Company 2, since DICE earned a 2008 Narrow Minded Award from the Wide Screen Gaming Forums for their shortcomings in this regard (thanks PC Games Hardware).

This,

Would have saved me a lot of money too, would have never brought an XBox if BC1 was PC!

And cool to see another mention of the awesome work done here.

It's not like I'd ever play a game like this, but I half want to buy it just to support them if they get the FOV/aspect/res support right...

The original had a great story mode from what I have read, I think you would be happy with it.

Yeah I enjoyed the SP, it had some good humour in it. The actual gameplay was OK, nothing ground breaking, but the story was funny. With Haggard and Sweetwater in the background of all the cut-scenes taking the michael out of each other, playing rock-paper-scissors etc...

.. as to the gold bling Hind with a disco ball in the troop compartment, I LOL'd :)
