Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena-Steam version

Post by KaMy »

Hi everyone,

I've been looking here ->[url]http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/10378]<- to change my resolution but it doesn't talk about steam

There's nothing in the "AppData>Local>Atari>Chronicles of Riddick - Assault on Dark Athena>" directory, but i got something here "D:SteamSteamAppscommonchronicles of riddick - assault on dark athena>Environment", still steam doesn't seems to take care of the modifications i made (1440*900).

Does anyone had already modify the game through Steam, how?

Thanks, and sorry for the approximate speaking.

Riddick's resolutions are all supported natively, what are you trying to modify?

If i was able to do so, i would not try to do this via manual tweak.

I can set it up in 640x480, 720x480, 720x576, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x960, 1280x1024, 1360x768, 1600x900, 1600x1024, 1680x1050.

Well I tested 1440*900 for the report, so it should be there. Is that your desktop resolution?

Nope, i've got a 22" 1680x1050 native screen.

And there is almost not any game i can set in 1440x900, only Trine propose me to do so.

I had to do it manually for Dragon Age, Killing Floor, Torchlight, Borderlands and others.

Many games pulls the information of what res you can use from windows. If you cannot select it on desktop, you won't get the option in game. I would advice you to add this resolution to your desktop. Then you wouldn't have to manually add for many games. Which GFX card do you have? :)

Don't feel ashamed. These things are not fed to us from birth and we all have to learn why things happen one time or another. Its impossible that everything is plug and play with all the different setups and configurations. For all we know, this might not fix it in Riddick, but it will fix it in other games if you don't have that res availabile in windows. :)

This is a bit old, but it should guide you in how with the new control center. Settings should be the same, though the interface is a bit different:

Done, it works, thanks a lot :bowdown

Because it was not so paractical to do it via *.ini files ^_^

And that's a great site you got here, good job done here, a lot of advices/tuto etcetc.

It's always welcome and useful.

Keep doing it that way ;)

Thank you for the kind words. :)

Often, the easiest solutions are the best ones. I hope this solved the issues for Dragon Age, Killing Floor, Torchlight and Borderlands too. :)

May I ask why with a GTX 260 you are not just playing in 1680x1050?

Because i'm playign the game in windowed mode.

The first time was because of the bad version of Mass Effect with my PC, and time helping i've began to love playing in windowed mode.

Can reach everything i want, change music, check monitoring tools etc etc.

My next screen for the 2nd computer i'm going to make will be a 24" instead of a 22" just to play in 1680x1050 instead of 1440x900, and still be free to do wathever i want without alt-tab.

Gotcha.

I like playing old games in a window, like old adventure games that only display in low-res with pixels. They look horrible blow-up to me, even with filters.

Tell me about it :)

Games like the good old fallout saga, BG, and stuffs like that, because in full screen it hurts my eyes a lot.
