Eve Online updates

Post by BHawthorne »

Anyone notice with the new expansion how FOV is improved? The planets actually look circular and the side views aren't that extreme distrorted look we're all so used to. They upgraded the starfield looks, warp effect and the planets are are proceedurally generated now and look cool.

I've not properly played EVE for a while so I couldn't say off hand I'll check at 5040x1050 when I get home, old screenshots at that res can be found on the detailed report, that said, EVE has changed alot since its orginal release and could probably do with a new detailed report.

BTW, what alliance are you in, I considered a few times when I was playing properly joining an alliance and flying over to 0.0 space, but now I won't even consider risking flying my Orca that I saved up so long in my one man corporation just incase they don't think me a valuable ally, rather a high value sucker.

The thing with ship types, fly certain ship types only in certain areas. I'd never fly an Orca in 0.0 unless it had fleet defense and eyes on gates around the area. You really are missing out on a big area of the game by not trying 0.0 for at least 6 months in a large alliance. Park the expesive ships in high sec and have fun with roaming gangs and fleet ops for a bit. It's a totally different game when in an alliance of size.

The other option is sell everything before leaving, hop in a shuttle and speed across the galaxy then just buy what you need when you get there. At one point I had a conversation with another corporation about how funny it would be if me in my one man corp managed to gain sovereignty of a system, disregarding the impracticality of it it would of still be funny even if it didn't last very long. :D

What they did was make EVE Vert- at wider resolutions.

New FOV 1280*1024 and 3840*1024

Old FOV 1280*1024 and 3840*1024

Yer they have lowered and fixed the FoV, but there are already requests in the offical feedback forum to add an option to change it back. But it has fixed the issue of the screen distorting near the edges.

Appearntly it is possible to change your FoV sightly, by pressing CTRL+LMB+RMB and moving the mouse right and left, if you move it all the way right it'll lower it and moving it all the way left will make it higher, but it is limited.

Even if they decide to stay -vert, all they have to do is triple the camera zoom out max and there, all fixed. I tried to suggest this for DAoC too but it never got into the right dev's to-do box. -vert isn't bad if it's set off with added camera zoom out.
