Resolution fix for Prince of Persia: Sands of Time on Steam

Post by Zuffox »

I'm aware of the widescreen patcher, but while it seems to work for the GOG version of the game, it doesn't ameliorate the resolution problem on the Steam version.

Is there anything to do about this? I feel a littled boned by choosing the inferior Steam version over, say, GOG's.

Hmm. I'm sure I was able to use UniWS on the Steam version ok, which actually in contrary to what I expected (because Steam executables are usually encrypted rendering UniWS unusable), but I was pleasantly surprised. This was a few months ago though, when I got SoT free with a pre-order of the new PoP.

It's possible the lack of encryption on SoT was an oversight and they've since corrected it.

In any case, the typical solution in these cases is to download a no-CD executable, and then use that with the Steam version's content files to play the game.

Fair warning: Using a no-CD executable is hypothetically against the Steam terms of service (since it allows you to run the game without running Steam), but realistically, they have no way of detecting that you're running no-CD executable (to Steam, it's just like any other unrelated program running on your PC), so you don't really have to worry about it.
