I don't have the game yet ... BUT ...
A friend of mine tested this for me and it works but he does not have TripleHead so he only tested it on a 16:9 screen.
I have no idea how the HUD or the weapon will be affected but I suspect the view of the weapon and the HUD will not change.

Go to my documentsgamesborderlandswillowgame

Open willowinput.ini with NotePad ...
Find the section titled ...

[WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput]

For 3 x 16:10 (5040x1050) ... add this to the bottom of that section ...

Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 142",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

In the game press F11 to change the FOV to the new value ... :D

Default FOV

FOV 110

FOV 142

unforunately this does not work, only for this game. other UE3 games work when done this way.

i think gearbox intentionally protected this editing since there is a competitive edge with higher fov (debateble)

also i noticed there is a proof of this also.

4:3 is hor- compared to 16:10 or 16:9.

anything over 16:9 will cause vert-.

hence they made this game to have the max fov at 16:9

NVM: i put the line under the ENgine section, it works now, thanks!

Looks to me the fix with the bindings will give you the ingame view needed but it wont fix the horrible vert - zoom for the hud and weapons.

I'll give it a go here soon as my game gets done decrypting on steam.

So next goal is to reduce or zoom out on menu and ui size if possible and it should be pretty much 100% working. This game is going to be my new addiction so I hope we get it working.

As far as I am aware this has not been done for any UE3 based game ... unless the game devs sorted it.
Unfortunately the ScaleHUDX=0.333333 command doesn't seem to work in UE3 games and the bSmallWeapons command (if it works) will just make the weapons a bit smaller rather than change the view of them.

Now that you have it working is there any chance of a screenshot with the FOV changed in TripleHead ?

Well game is playable with the bindings, things that are in game like the pop up windows are zoomed in and unreadable, however the tab menu is perfect and in the center monitor so you can use that to do your stats, your weapon/equpment change, check your quests and status.

The weapons are zoomed in bad and that sucks, the hud is streched but its not a big deal its still easy to read due to its design, so the zoomed menues are the worst part except!

I dont know whats up I'll have to delete the bindings I just put in and test, when I press shift and sprint the FOV goes very wide and my game goes upside down! Makes running impossible.

Edit: figured out the problem, its not the bindings its the FOV. I created another binding identical to the FOV 140 one but made it FOV 90 and put it on the F12 key.

If I run with the 140FOV the game goes CRAZY, but if i put it back into 90 it works ok and I can run.

Just a thought ... could you add ... | fov 90 ... to whatever button is used for running so it automatically changes when you run ?
Of course you will have to press F11 to get the FOV 140 back once you stop running.

My buddy is offline now so I can't ask him to try it.

I figured out the problem, I noticed there is a slight zoom out when you run at FOV 90 I figured what ever the effect it must be taking the 142 FOV past a limit and making it invert.

So I tried FOV 130 and it works, then made several other bindings, FOV 133, FOV 136, FOV 139, FOV 142.

130, 133, 136 all work without inverting, however this zoom/fisheye effect is expodentially worse the higher your FOV is, at 136 its some very serious tunnel vision, you look like your a mile away from something and soon as you stop running it zooms to be right in your face.

So the fix for now I think is to play with FOV 130/133 and get slight vert minus but have only a somewhat bad tunnel vision when running. The best fix would be to see if there is a setting in the .ini files somewhere that determine this change when running and make it 0 so that your FOV does not change when you run.

Edit: Trying a hybrid setup now, like 110/120 fov bound to the sprint key and see how that looks, even at FOV 130 the tunnel vision is pretty bad, as for my key to change it back to FOV 142 I think the right mouse key would be good, its your "view the gun sights" button so its right in reach so you can quickly change back.

Edit2: FOV 120 works very well with run the zoom is not bad at all and you do not get crazy tunnel vision. Using right mouse for going back to 142 FOV works well enough for me but I am debating just staying at FOV 120 at all times.

The FOV bind would work, and I would then just add FOV 142 or what ever to my jump key or shoot key so that I can toggle it back without having to find a special key, problem will be the horrible zoom in/out you will suffer when going between the two, it will be very distracting.

Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 142",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

So if that works for 5040x1050, what would the correct FOV be for: 3840x1024?

Thanks!

@ Vicious ...
In MOHA there was a MOHAPlayer.ini which had setting under the heading ... [MOHAGame.MOHAPlayerPawn] ... for the FOV whilst sprinting ... fSprintFOV

Perhaps there is a similar file and setting with Borderlands ?

@ physix ... try 130 for 3840x1024

Hey all, Thanks for the effort Paddy and everyone else investigating! This game is awesome. Unfortunately this fix and FOV change just doesnt seem like enough.

The weapon view is REALLY cut off and the menu's are near unusuable.
We can change back and forth between resolutions just while in game... but for MP lobbies and such it'll get old fast.

To me it's not worth playing in TH2G at least right now.

Sounds like there's no way to fix the menu's in the UE3 engine from what you're saying Paddy.

What is it that this game is lacking to be able to make it look good? Some games, like Far Cry 2, work so well and come out looking perfect in TH2G.

Side Note:
I swear, I wish more game devs would put time into this. Then the technology would pickup even more and someday it would be a standard of gaming, all because of the pioneers of it :)
I've worked for several game developers over the years too and they all have 3 screens in their offices and are as hardcore as us, dont know why more companies dont put the seeming small amount of time in to get our tech working. I cant tell you how many times I've walked past an office only to see a coworker playing WoW in TH2G.

Im happy with my FOV 120 for sprint and FOV 142 for right mouse fix for now. I dont need the menu's in game only the tab menu and that works fine.

I have not tried multiplayer yet but I imagine yes it would not work well. FPS can go into the low 20's at 5760x1200 with a ATI 5870 with game settings on all high, so I may end up dealing with 1 screen while online.

I have not tried online yet as all my friends were unable to connect to my game and I unable to connect to theres. I guess server overload? or maybe there is a port I need to open on my router similar to Warcraft 3 how you cant do a dedicated server without opening a port.
