Pharaoh, Caesar III and all similar strategy-games

Post by Hyperboreer »

Hello,

I want to play Pharaoh in 1680x1050 widescreen-mode. You can only choose between 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. The big problem is, that the resolution is saved in a file called Pharaoh.inf. And it is saved as 0, 1 or 2.
"0" means 640x480, "1" means 800x600 and so on.
I think, the method is similar in the games "Caesar III", "Zeus" and "Emperor - Rise of the middle kingdom".

There is no place where I can change resolution directly. I think that I have to change the file where the numbers (0, 1 and 2) are assigned to the resolution they stand for.

I know that there are plenty of other old games who save resolutions this way, for example Patrician 2 is another game.
Does anybody have experiences with this?

Great games, i'm also looking for patch/mod for Emperor: RotMK. In game dir, in folder "Res" there's cfg file gameoptionsctrl.cfg Which has some number under "Width" and "Height". Changing it will alter stretching of the game on widescreen monitors. But that's about all that i found. I remember there's patch for StarCraft that allows you to play in higher res, which helps you to see almost the entire map! i wish someone would wrote this kinda patch/mod for all these city-building games.
For now i have to play in window mode :(
