If it is, hope they got surround support for it.

Why does this remind me more of TransFormers than MechWarrior?

Mech Warrior?
Maybe the detailed urban setting? I remember MW2 being just terrain any polys.

The 3DFX version was more detailed. So was Mercs, and the later MechWarrior games. The urban setting here doesn't seem to ring true to the Battletech universe.

Mech 4 Mercs had quite a few missions set in urban environments.
I want more Mechwarrior games... hope this is good. (And uses unobtrusive DRM, if at all...)

I know, and so did MechWarrior 2 and MechWarrior 2 Mercs. It's just that those urban settings as I remember them had a used future look to them, while this shot looks like a random intersection in San Fransisco.
Anyway, a new MechWarrior would be awesome... if it's a true MechWarrior sim with overheating, weight, customization, at least 150 button commands, etc. What I don't want to see is another MechAssault game with mindless arcade style shooting, force fields, lava guns, ammo powerups, and wrench icons that heal you instantly.

I've not actually watched that vid as I can't get it to load. It starts buffering then hangs. Don't have the patience for that. ;)

Completely agree.
The thing I would like is some sort of mod toolset. There were times I'd have loved to have been able to play MW4 (& MW4Mercs) with a mech totally loaded out beyond all reasonable expectations. ;)

Thank goodness me and my friend aren't the only ones psyched about this. Still need to be a little cautious until they release a title at least, I suppose.

cool a new mechwarrior game
it's been a long time since mechwarrior 4
fully agree with The cranky hermit & Paradigm Shifter
I hope it will be 100% simulation but I'm not against easing some controls for a larger audience. (for example autocentering of torso with movement , and auto strafe)
also concerning surround support, it's nice but in the end everyone could be limited by cockpits view, as far as I remember some mechs have pretty narrow cockpit views ;)

Cool. I enhopyed three and four and was a little bummed when i read MS games cancelled MW5 back in 2005 or some thing...
Neat.
That clip reminds you of Transformers because Michael Bay is a shitty film maker that only really makes trailer clips. BOOM! KRAAAHH!! PA-CHOW!!!!

you missed nothing
about 7seconds of a city intersection with a car at the foreground
then comes a big mech foot in front of the screen making the car shake ...
for a teaser it's a very short one with a lot of tease
Mech Warrior?
AWESOME. "MechWarrior" confirmed as a series reboot. Trailer just came out midnight PDT, looks great. Just need to hear about some gameplay elements (controls and customization) and I'm good. Well, would've preferred Clan stories, but I'm happy enough with a new game.

I hate that word "reboot." What's so awesome about completely disregarding all previous games and starting all over again? It's not like Tomb Raider where they pumped out sequel after crappy sequel until the whole franchise became a joke.

well... if at least they make a new nice simulation mechwarrior game
and given the time we had to wait for it ...
I will happily disregard the loss of previous mechwarrior history
In any case it's not done yet since they are still searching for publishers according to those articles... :?

Previous MechWarrior games is the sole reason most of us are interested in this. The very word "reboot" implies they will pretend they never existed.

really ?
I think I played mechwarrior 2 & 4 or 3 & 4 not sure
the storyline was nice but nothing spectacular as I remember them
unless you're talking about something else perhaps ?
there's not so much battlemechs games around nowadays ...

I don't think we played MW for the story line.
It was more for the way we could customize a mech and bring it into battle.
We could put 6 LLR into a novacat for a no heat match.
I was a hell of a laugh when we brought the mech and someone forgot to turn off the heat.
Once we fired we blew up.
Also remembered a flying daishi. :)

Just because it's a reboot doesn't mean they will forsake the original games. It's not like you can't go back either. Besides, the previous games weren't a continuous series or anything (just chronological), so it doesn't even make much of a difference whether or not they add a '5' to the end.
Speaking of the previous games though, specifically:
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/mechwarrior-4-free-on-battletech-com-soon/
Sounds like they'll try to make a new patch too, so it can add all content including MekTek Studio stuff as well.

That's awesome about free Mech 4... I can't find my discs. :(
Although I'd like it way more if I could use all the extra MekTek mechs in the single player... :)
