I might.
I need to find out if it is possible to go from a video cards DVI output to the units DisplayPort. If that will work I will get the new one. I don't want to get a new gfx card right now, as I just got my GTX 285 in January.

I feel like it should work, though not at it's highest res. I don't know, I am only guessing because the current one will accept VGA output from the video card, but not at its highest res.

I am very new to this, so again I have no idea what is possible and what isn't. But as long as it will work with my current system, I will probably get the newest one. I can get a new card later on to take full advantage of the DisplayPort.

im asking myself the same question, because displayport video cards aren't too common. if we could go from dvi to displayport then that would rock and still be able to get the full 3x5040x1050x60hz. then the easy displayport to dvi for each monitor works. im currently waiting for the new video card generation to come out and get new ones then.

Well I am pretty sure that we will not be able to get 5040x1050 @ 60hz using a DVI out to DPP in. It is my understanding (I could be wrong) that the reason we can't currently get that res at 60Hz is because of the bandwidth limit of DVI.
However, I'm fine with that and would just run whatever I could get out of it for now and then later get a DisplayPort graphics card.
But really, the more I think about it, I may just get the current digital edition and get the new unit later. I would have to buy all new cables (DPP to HDMI) from the unit to the monitors, plus a DVI to DPP adapter (if that is even possible).

But I want more information before I commit. I was going to order the current one tomorrow, so hopefully someone that knows if this will work will offer their advice today.

Is it on sale yet? I can't seem to find it anywhere besides the Matrox site.

Sounds interesting, but no increase in resolution with the new DP cable bandwidth. I see no benefit over my current TH2G Digital. I'd be all for this upgrade if it did 3x1920x1200 though. What is the new "Support for Clone Mode"? I can't find any info on it.

I probably will, then sell either my analogue or digital TH2G or give it away.

Looks like ATI is talking about running up to 4 monitors off of one card

http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/06/ati-displayport-cards-trickle-out/

We may not need TH2go anymore. But then again, that's an old article. I'm going to see if I can find something newer about it.

They already have on the market a 4 output card, but it doesn't do surround gaming, yet. It's coming, of that I am certain.

The current one, that I know of is DVI.

This looks interesting also http://www.idt.com/?id=5338 unless I'm misunderstanding what it means.
maybe matrox isn't the only game in town. I bet the next version of displayport will be even better.

Same here. Or if it fixed the Vista/nvidia WTH compatibility nightmare once and for all. And if I only had to upgrade the TH2G, and not the monitors + graphics cards. :?

Yeah, after looking into it more, I just bought the current digital version. No real benefit that I could see. It is a step in the right direction though. But the added expense of another gfx card and cables, it isn't the model that best suits my needs.
For someone that is about to build a new system or upgrade their gfx card, it would probably be in their best interest.
I do wonder if there will be a firmware update that will allow 1920x1200x3 with this new one though.
No matter though, the digital version will do me, for now anyway.

I dont understand this TH2GO update.....i was waiting to change my TH2GO with a new version that supported 1920x1200x3 but this looks to me just like a commercial move, totally useless for current users who already have a TH2GO setup.
New users will welcome the 60hz frequency at max res but that's all...
I'm really disappointed with Matrox, was really hoping to go back again to the native monitor resolution.

Im not an expert but there is a data transfer limit for video connections such as DVI and DP, this will bottleneck the system making impossible, for now, to get 1920x1200x3.

They can't do it with either the digital or analog current versions. The bandwidth simply doesn't exist in the cables.

Like trying to add a synthetic oil to your Honda to make it a Ferrari. You just can't do it.

The TH2G would have to present itself as dual 2880x1200 monitors for triple 1920x1200...it could work, but it's not elegant...

this displayport version looks cool

as my 24" monitor doesn't do 1680x1050 @57hz :(
so I have to use 4380x900 :(

but I will wait for a new version or patch that does 1920x1200x3 at 60hz
(though I will have to get a new Videocard with displayport)

ohh well.
