Read Full Detailed Report - Wheelman

Wheelman is an over-the-top open-world driving and shooting game developed by Vin Diesel's development studio, Tigon Studios and published by both Ubisoft and Midway. Diesel himself lends his likeness and voice to the game, which focuses strongly on feeling like an action movie. Gameplay mostly consists of insane driving through Barcelona with no focus at all on realism and instead a concentration of feeling like an action movie filled with stunts and insane chases. If you like crazy fun gameplay more than polish and graphics, Wheelman might be worth a chance purchase.

Relief ! It's not anamorphic. I'll check Surround support as soon as I receive my copy of the game.

Grade is C+, CCE is 100%. And based on your screenshots, I would call the PDA anamorphic - you're basically losing black bars, only instead of black, they're gradients.

Runs really well... 90fps sometimes, drops to 60+ at times. No AA though, trying to figure out how to force it... nhancer is a no, renaming to ut3.exe is a no...

Gameplay is really fun. Lots of insane driving and jumping from car to car. It is very mindless and arcade style, the opposite of GTA4.

I am glad I bought it, but others have much higher standards... it depends.

Surround support has Vert- 3D and anamorphic (pillarboxed) 2D. Not quite as bad as it sounds : it means all there is to do is to find a way to adjust the FOV. Just don't buy the game for TripleHead right now (the Vert- driving is horrible) but keep an eye out in case someone figures it out. ;)

The walking around part actually doesn't look too horrible.

Screenshots may look good enough, but actual Surround Vert- gameplay doesn't feel right, I assure you :(

2560x1000 (yes, 2.56:1) feels much better than TripleHead :

16:10 on the other hand feels like true Hor+, so that's the best choice for me.
By the way cranky, 1440x900 is natively supported ! Velvet, are you sure it's one of your available desktop resolutions ?

As I put in the Riddick thread, you're right, my graphics card is not allowing me 1440x900, it's not the game.

Strange.

Report edited to reflect this. Final grade is not effected as it was based on Vert- gameplay.

By the way, the new 185 beta drivers from nVidia allow for forced AA in this game, and it looks a lot better. Too bad the 185's are buggy as hell and I've reverted to the 182s :( .

not bad for using unreal engine, when you go really fast the FOV increases more, so dont set it too high :P

Does anyone know a mirror for the FOV hack? That site gives me "IPS Driver Error" everytime I try to download. :(

Use whatever feels right to you... it's a 3rd person game, and FOV is sort of a subjective thing. We do have a calculator here on the site if you want the forum's advised FOV... get that here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/fovcalc.php

Personally I think the default FOV is fine for this game in 16:10, but I do appreciate Racer_S making a hack for Tripleheaders and those who disagree.

Find out what the FOV is for 16:9, and then punch that into http://imk.cx/pc/fovcalculator/calc.xhtml here.

Choose 16:9 as the source and 16:10 as the destination. You will actually be using a lower FOV than 16:9, so if you like the extra view you're getting already, then you might as well leave it default.
