TH2Go and media subtitles...

Post by allanstrings »

This isn't gaming related, but this is the only place with enough people with experience handling triple head issues :D

I have a digital TH2Go, running 3 22" Chimei widescreens @ 5040x1050 on a GTX280. With the 16:10 ratio on each screen, if I watch a movie fullscreened on the center monitor, I get the letterboxes on top and bottom. If I go fullscreen across all three it looks better, with the minor annoyance of the bezels. However- if I watch anything that is subtitled, a long sentence will get broken between all three monitors as well. Obviously if the subs are embedded or hardcoded into the source, there isn't any way around it, but most things these days use soft-subs like DirectVobSub. I have fooled around with all the options I can find in the subtitle sections of the plugins and media player classic to try and limit the horizontal width of the subtitle area, but nothing seems to be effective.

Does anyone know of a way to force the subtitles onto the center monitor only, or limit the field to a centered 1600 pixels or something?

I can't help but I just want to say you watch movies expanded across all three screens?????

Man I have a BR player and have always used the centre at 1920x1080. I'll have to give it a go, never thought it would look anything but crap-tastic!

I watch some movies spanned, but only if the aspect ratio is wider than 16:9. Because at 16:9 it just isn't really worth it. With subtitles its a bit harder to get used to but usually its not a problem.

In soft-subtitles, there are two methods for line-breaks. n and N. n is treated as a soft-line-break, I.E. break the line here if it's too long to fit on the screen, otherwise leave it as it is. N is treated as a hard-line-break. It will break the line there no matter what.

Depending on the container in use, extract the subtitles, replace all occurrences of n with N, and then add them back to the container. You can alternatively look to see whether the player has an option to treat all soft-line-breaks as hard-line-breaks.

You can easily extract and remux MP4 and MKV. Other containers may be troublesome or not possible at all.
