James Bond - Quantum of Solace

Post by Sebhael »

Hello WSGF.

I just recently purchased Quantum of Solace, and am deeply disappointed in the FoV provided by the game.

What really irks me about it, is that since the game is on a modified version of the CoD4 engine, you would figure it would offer the same options as CoD did. Absolutely not...

It seems as though there's no console support in the game, and the configuration file looks to be hexed, or whatever. It's nothing that I understand.

Would it be possible to force the game into IMK's Widescreen Fixer application? Or is there some sort of tool that could be used in conjunction with the game?

What exactly is wrong with the game? I think I looked at it before but didn't try for some reason.

Does it have the wrong aspect-ratio (stretched screen) like CoD4/WaW/MW2? Or is it just a low FOV?

Well if I could get the bloody game to run I would say how it is! Just DirectX crashes no matter what...

...times like these I feel like giving in and going full time XBox!!!

Ah got it working, for some reason CC had upped my OC to crash levels FFS

So yeah it is like CoD, FoV at 65 I guess so needs to be 90 for me. Sick making, fun game though... not tricky but you do get to be bond in a FPS cover game type way.

Is it just the FOV? Is the aspect-ratio correct?

I own this one too, pretty sure all is fine the FOV is just really low. This is one of those low FOV games that never bothered me though, like Call of Duty games never bother me.

Oh wow. Supercheap indeed. Last time I checked, the best price was ridiculous - in the opposite way.
Isn't it an "almost third-person" sort of FPS ? Won't it make the whole FOV fixing a bit complicated ?

Well it is cover based, so when you hit cover it goes 3rd person. But when you aim it goes 1st. I wouldn't care if the 3P bit is messed as long as the 1st is OK. Otherwise, for me, it is un-playable for more than a few minutes at a time.

I can't find my DVD for the game. I know I beat it, but I only played it on a single screen and I do recall the FOV being really low. If I find my disc I'll see what I can do about the FOV.
