Benq MP512ST a gaming projector??

Post by funmaker888 »

Hi,

I was thinking to get a projector for occasional gaming and data projection. However, I am not a heavy user and won't be, so an entry model will be just fine. Also, my budget doesn't make for a high-end product. I came across the MP512ST and this looks just fine for my purposes:

Some specs:
- short-throw technology (110" screen size from 2 meters distance)
- 800x600 native resolution
- 2200 Ansi lumens
- 2500:1 contrast ratio

Any recommendations or experiences on this one?

Thanks!

OK I'm not fully briefed on the metric system, but I do know that if I spread my arms out the distance between my fingers is more than one meter. And if I doubled that distance it wouldn't be enough to place the projector anywhere.

I'm guessing that after 2 meters the picture gets blurry, which is bad. "Short-throw technology" is just a three word stretch job on the word "cheap".

Unless you plan on mounting this thing on your head, increase your budget.

Heh agree & disagree.

Some short throw projectors cost more than there regular brothers. Its very nice to be able to get a big screen in a shorter distance as long as the quality is the same. I have seen models that do this.

It allows more more environments to be suitable for the projector, like my small room for instance.

However this one the OP is talking about with only 800x600 res??? thats god awefull for a computer resolution. I guess in game it may not be too bad but for web surfing & windows it would feel terribly akward.
