Very nice. I think I know how I'll set my screen up now in a corner. I have 3 InFocus SP5000 and a TH2G analog. Just not figured out how to do the screen...until now. :)

I was looking into three projectors at one point, but don't have a place to do it. Couldn't justify the expense on something I could rarely use. Will have to consider that for whenever I look for a new house. I'd like to go with 3 1280x720 projectors.

Not to mention that with the current lamp replacement cost being ridiculous, needing 3 at a time would become ludicrous.

Yeah it is the lamp replacement that gets you, altho those LED based projectors look interesting.

Lamp replacement cost is one of the hidden cost of running a TH2Go setup of three projectors.
(Actually, the cost of a replacement lamp is high but it is averaged out over the life span of the bulb, it does not look that bad. Say, a bulb costs USD 300-400 and has a life span of 1500-2000 hours. This gives about USD 0.20 per hour of gaming.)

Another one is possibly the cost of the screens. A nice screen can be quite expensive.

One item in that video that really caught my attention is the 'rocking seat'. That is really interesting.

I've looked at the led based projectors, but they're just about useless, for any image worth getting em for they'd be way too dark.

They'd only be useful to projector something like a 30" image, which would be smaller than my current lcd.

TI just announced a 'home theater' led projector, though they left out the price. Since current led projectors are about double a 'normal' one, I'd be surprised if the new one ends up much less than about 5k.

For less then that I could get 2 more 42" monitors and go triple head that way. Without lamp replacements to boot.

The other problem with led based projectors is that they do eventually burn out, and theres no mention of a replacement either.

I got my 3 projectors on the cheap. $650, $210 and $110. First was a factory refurb about 2 years ago. Other 2 were unknown problem ebay sales that had nothing permanantly wrong with them. The seller was just ignorant on how to troubleshoot them.

The secret about bulb replacement...you don't buy the whole thing, you just buy the bulb for $65 and replace the burnt out bulb in the refractor cage. Mine are rather standard UHP 200/150 Philips bulbs that I can get knock off replacements for from China.

Projector bulb cages are cast alunimin with a glass refactor inside. The bulb is mounted via a hole in the glass refactor with plaster that can be soaked in water and ice picked out. You can remount the new bulb with about anything that handles high temps well. Some have used muffler patch. I prefer using something that can be removed again like a high temperature plaster.

Basicly it makes more sense to me every 2000 hours to spend $65 + do the labor than to spend $350 and drop a new lamp cage in. I have 4 lamp cages, 2 currently with good bulbs. I can afford the time to have my backup lamp plaster set with no downtime because I already have one done currently for backup. Anyone that has projectors most likely has 1 lamp cage with a burnt out bulb sitting around someplace. Just fix it for $65. :)

I'll probably give the led projectors another year to mature (the new pico dlp's sound promising) and then try to go for a desktop type setup 3x1024x768 @ 25-30 in screens

My living room sports a 1080i DLP projector (See my sig), and I'm getting ~3250-4250 out of my bulbs. I've only had to replace it once because my friends mistreated my projector while I was out of town on vacation and they were watching the place. (They fired up the projector to watch tv/play guitar hero, let it run overnight (as long as projector has sync, it stays on), then found it the next day still on, turned it off, then right back on, tip of the bulb blew off from the shrinking then rapid re-expansion.) Bulbs are only $340 new for me. However, I am interested in the $65 fix. I do still have my old cage, anything you can recommend for me? What kind of plaster, and what kind of bulb do I need to replace the blown one?
