TripleHead2Go Setup Video card question

Post by DigChaos »

I'm currently putting together a triple monitor setup to work with the triplehead2go, unfortunately my PC only has 1 PCI-E slot so i cannot run an SLI setup. I was wondering if you guys think a single card like the GTX260 could push the 3840x1024 resolution that is required? Also this comp doesn't utilize the PCI-E 2.0 is that going to be an issue when trying to get decent frame rates with say a GTX260? I was also considering the 9800 with the bi-GPU's... Basically I'm trying to get the most out of that 1 PCI-E Slot heh. What do you guys think? Thanks.

The best single gaphics card at the moment is the 4870x2. Hwever some people have had problems with that card and using the new 5040x1050 res. A card which is almost as fast (and sometimes faster....especially in games with poor crossfire scaling) is the GTX280. So buy either one of those if you have the cash..The 280's massive 512Mb mem bandwidth is great at high res as is the 4870x2's high speed GDDR5.
I would personally opt for the 280 as it is a single GPU but the 4870x2 is overall the fastest single card available.

So buy a 280GTX or 260 if you are short on cash IMO

5040x1050?Wow i didn't realize they would accomidate that resolution, which is better since i already have a 22" monitor runnning that rez, then i only have to buy 2 more monitors, now... Am i asking for trouble even thinking about running 1680x1050x3 now? Think the GTX280 orGTX260 could handle it?

The 280 can def initely. Obviously it depends on the game as to how high you can set the graphical settings....Crysis would go only on medium probably! But a lot of games, even modern ones, a single 280 will do highest settings @ 5040x1050. Obviously SLI makes it even better but for even games which have a good SLI prfile the increase is in the region of no more than 50% faster.
