The game Battlestar Galactica (Sierra Online, 2007) natively supports widescreen modes configured from within the game.

It allows independent setting of ratios:
4:3, 16:9, 16:10

and resolutions:
1024x768
1152x864
1280x720
1280x800
1280x960
1280x1024
1440x900
1600x1200
1680x1050
1920x1080
1920x1200

The game configuration file may be hand edited to set custom modes not officially supported by the game.
In MyDocumentsMyGamesBattlestar GalacticacvarsArchive.gm
the following variables may be configured to set almost any fullscreen or windowed display mode:

cvar.displayPhysicalScreenRatio = 1.33333;
cvar.fullscreenSizeX = 1024;
cvar.fullscreenSizeY = 768;
