How do you change the large text on UT2004 in 3 screen mode?

I was wondering how do you change the large text on UT2004 in 3 screen mode? I get to the selection opening screen and all I see is a garbled orgy of LARGE text overlapping each other. It is very hard to select what I want. This also happens in the selection of my characters; I only see the middle half of the character that I'm selecting. Is that typical? Everything else in the custom selection settings menu is stretched from end to end. Kind of weird, but if that is how it works - okay, but I hope there is a way to change this. Also, does this happen in other games as well? Thank you to anyone out there who can help... Later...

In some games the user interface scales badly like this and sometimes there is no way to change it ... in UT2004 you can't change it.

Some games it is so bad you can't play ... some games you just have to muddle through.
