How to use Widescreen Fixer
  • Go to https://www.widescreenfixer.org/ and download the application.
  • Extract the archive to anywhere you want on your system.
  • Go inside the Widescreen Fixer folder you extracted and double-click Widescreen Fixer.exe.
  • Pick a game from the drop-down list and press the configure (gear) button to configure the plugin for that game.
  • Please read the description within each plugin; important instructions about the fix may be listed there.
  • Start the game and press the hotkey to enable or disable the fix. The default hotkey is the asterisk (*) key on your numpad. If you wish to change this hotkey, go to the Settings tab.

I don't use this hack. I use the another.

"xxxBF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Works fair enough. No problems with Punkbuster.

Just wanted to throw in here.

I've downloaded this and have been using it for the past week, online, with absolutely no problems. It works really well.

I would like to suggest locking this post at this time. I'm not exactly sure how Google's algorithms work, but if this gets much longer it may start getting search engine hits and I would hate for the punkbuster people to find it and find a way to add it to their program.

Bad news. It's first one on the list in google if you type 2142 Widescreen Hack. That's how I found this. :(

I'm an honest player and all I want to do is be able to play on MY widerscreen monitor. I shouldn't be banned for rightfully using my equipment how it's meant to be used. It kinda sucks to think Punkbuster is bound to find this program eventually and I'm sure they'll get the order to blacklist it.

I have inquired about this to both EA and EvenBalance (Punkbuster) and await there reply. Until then use this with the assumption that it may be detected as a true cheat and could result in a kick/ban.

We don't need to wait for their answer as their answer is obvious. Whoever pays their salary is ALWAYS right. In this case it's EA, who can't get its butt out of the 20th century, and believes that SOMEHOW we're cheating by buying a piece of hardware and using it. I just think it's wrong, it's a screen, there shouldn't be arguing.

excellent work dopefish!

Works just fine for me with one exception -- i had to reset my Logitech Setpoint config to default to get the "middle mouse button" back.

So question is, is it possible you could make an option available to change the shortcut key in a newer version? Or am i completely missing an obvious way i could bind a keyboard key to middle mouse button?

Great work dopefish.

It's Ok at 16:9. Take a look:

First image at 1024x768 4:3

Second image at 1920x1080 without hack 16:9

Third image at 1920x1080 with hack 16:9

I have just seen PB answer---> It may be a good hope.

Regards

Pd: Perhaps a little problem with zoom update rate. At 15 ms zoom movements are unestable.

Can't wait to try the new version. I played some last night in 2142 and was very pleased with the results. I barely noticed the zoom adjustment after a few round and can't wait to play with the new zoom adjustments.

Good news about PB DeadShot. I have a feeling DICE would have a negative opinion on the matter but until then.... Keep up the good work dopefish :)

BTW, i would still love to have an option to change the shortcut from the Middle Mouse button to a keyboard shortcut (as i said previously my middle button is already bound).

That said, i've come up with an easy workaround using the always handy Autohotkey. If anyone is interested, just create a script with the the following

Code: Select all

key::MButton

   return

where "key" is the keyboard shortcut you've chosen. For example, i picked F1 as my shortcut replacement and the code is as follows:

Code: Select all

F1::Mbutton

   return

Hope that helps anyone looking for an alternative shortcut. See the AHK site for alternative options.

It's true Dopefish. Middle button mouse is not a good option to enable/disable hack.
F12 key would be good for that.

Have you tested this hack in TripleHead2go ??

Regards.
