hey fellas...almost ready to upgrade from 7900 gt and was thinking of going with either 8800 gts 640 or 2900xt but wasn t sure if ATI still had lower res. problem...i have analog th2go version....

Hey Brogs,

Yes the new ATI 2xxx Series boards will support 3840x1024 in 3D now. We have one here (at Matrox) and it works fine in 3D at that resolution.

Woah, that's huge news.

BTW, brogs, I think the 8800GTS would be a bette choice anyway because in general it is a better GPU.

i m on the fence Jkeefe { hey you live close me lol } 2900xt seems like with some driver help it could be killer card for the money...i m on a budget and after doing some checking around ...my power supply is 420 watts 12rail 18amp so it will be ok for 8800 gts but not 2900xt.... so doing PS and vid card not in my around $400. give or take budget...thanks for help....

Yes it's very nice not to be tied to the hip to nvidia and their worthless drivers any more except for the fact that the 2xxx cards are very slow compared to 8800 cards. Maybe their next gen cards can compete, but this round definitely goes to nvidia.

It would be interesting how the 1GB X2900XT performs at high resolutions in games that are meant to have a generous memory usage.
