There dont seem to be any handy console commands, registry entries or config files to change the FOV so I'm stuck playing it on one screen :(

Any suggestions?

Any 3D engine can change the FOV, there has to be a solution for this.

I suggest not asking for a refund, but instead donating to Racer_S. What a man what a man what a mighty good man...

Woooooooooooooooot!

Everybody be sure to hook up Racer_S with a bit of cash. This fix is getting released when GSC hasn't even acknowleged the problem yet.

@Paddy :

Which version of Stalker are you using with the FOV tool?

Have you set all graphics options to max or what (in order to get a playable performance)?

Here is a graphics tweak guide:
http://www.tweakguides.com/STALKER_6.html

Are you overall satisfied with the performance?

I am running the unpatched version of the game at the moment ... mostly because I have modded many things to get the gameplay right ...
Many of the things I have modded are in the first patch (even if they are not mentioned in the update list) but I am happy with the gameplay as I have it and I'm intending to finish the game like this before I patch the game.

There is supposed to be a new patch out today and another in about 2-3 weeks ...
The one in 2-3 weeks will correct the FOV for widescreens ... I don't know if it will fix the FOV for TripleHead though.
It also will have ... Dual core optimization and a 10-15% FPS increase.

I am running the game at 3840x1024 ... maximum settings but I do have the view distance at about 60% ... I can't see a difference between 60% and 100% but I do see a slight performance boost.

I have also turned on the fake antialiasing ... as the AA in the game doesn't work with the Deferred Shading the game uses with full dynamic lights turned on.
I have also tweaked this such that the blurring (fake antialiasing) occurs more in the distance as I feel it looks better that way.

I am happy with performance ... just ... but there is the occasional and annoying drop in FPS ... noticeably in the first underground area of the game ... but I managed to get through it without lowering any settings ... but it was a bit of a pain.
The performance on the whole could be a lot better ... hopefully that patch in a few weeks will sort it.

One more point ... many sites have people complaining about the bugs in the game ... crashes to desktop ... lock-ups ... graphical glitches ... etc ... I have had none ...
I didn't have 5.1 surround at the start but I fixed that very quickly.

About the game ... (from another thread)

Don't run 'n' gun ... take your time ... enjoy the atmosphere ...

The first hour is a bit boring ...
A couple of hours in and it starts to get good ...
Three hours in and it has left most FPS way behind ...
Four or five hours in and it is getting close to catching up on my favourite game of all time (Deus Ex) ... Shocked ... (I'll reserve full judgement until I have completed the game a few times ... he-he)

I have never had such an emotional response to game ...
The atmosphere it creates is awesome ...
I have been sooooo filling my pants ... the hairs standing up on the back of my neck ...

Just give it a chance ... you won't be disappointed ... it just gets better and better.

I soooo hope other game developers get to see/play this game and so understand just what can be achieved in games ...

Thx for the detailed answer.

I am deliberating starting the game right now because it is a long game and I want to finish this year :)

But it is a question of the performance.

Many of the things I have modded are in the first patch (even if they are not mentioned in the update list) but I am happy with the gameplay as I have it and I'm intending to finish the game like this before I patch the game.

The incompatibility of savegames to newer game versions is a big problem.

Did you modify the SLI settings (with nhancer) ?
Do you feel a sli boost, you have 2 88800 right?

OK, didi you modify the advanced fake AA settings?
Probably it is the best way if you are so kind and attach your user.ltx here ( of course inclusive the SG C-panel, hud .. fixes.

I hope I will able to run the game in 3840 with my 7900gx2 with turning some details down and start with 1.0001.

No.

With two cards I get a few FPS more.

Yes.

I think you will be fine but you may have turn some settings down ... :(
My second system has 2x7900's and running it at 1920x1200 everything at max ... it is fine ... about 10 better than my 8800's but that system is running at 3840x1024 ... more objects to render and more pixels ... and I don't think the 8800 drivers are quite there yet ... :(
Anyway ... I just had a little play on the 7900's system ... FPS varied from 35-80 at 1920x1200 everything at maximum ... so it bodes well for you ... :D
Although that does depend on how much of a FPS freak you are ...

I haven't tried to optimise the game for that 7900's system yet as I'm having too much fun playing it in TripleHead and modding things ... :D

Hey hey Paddy!

Have you ran this game with full dynamic lighting?
I saw your screenies in the other thread and...wow!

I though full dynamic lighting corrupted at 3840x1280?

Hey bud ...

Yes I do.

It does ...
... but from the solution page ...
The second thing is the shadows are a little corrupted with Full Dynamic Lighting turned on ... see the screenshot below.
By increasing the Aspect Ratio they are not so apparent but things get a little squashed looking ... :(
Below is settings for TripleHead with adjustment to decrease the shadow corruption with Full Dynamic Lighting turned on ... but play with it until you find what works best for you ...

FOV : 240
Aspect Ratio : 1.04
It isn't so bad ... :D
