I noticed 2, but wasnt impressed with the graphics - so left it alone, but Gothic 3 is looking really impressive in the graphics department - so im quite looking forward to it now, it'll at least keep me happy until Dark Messiah is released at the end of the month.
Gothic 3 .. almost here!
I loved Gothic 2 so I'll definitely be grabbing this one. Though I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me get another WS TV for downstairs (51 Hitachi has been sent to the basement! :P) so I might have to put this one on the XMAS list :)
As for the game... I'm just hoping it's not as disapointing as Oblivion was. I'm only going back to play Oblivion now because of the great mods that remove the NPC level scaling. Supposedly Gothic 3 is more like it's predeccessor in which you could meet your demise very quickly by tangling with the wrong baddies. Can't wait!

AFAIK it has a lot of Bugs and a bad performance. Moreover it doesn't support Widescreen. I cannot understand this. Gothic 3 is perfect for Widescreen. Hopefully some of you might find a trick to manage WS. :(
I played Gothic I, II+DNdR extremely intensive. It was a great experience and one of the best RPGs ever. But at the moment I doubt that G3 will be as good as its predecessors. There are also a lot of bugs in G3 just like in Oblivion. I stopped playing Oblivion without being through only because of bugs.
Due to open area without loading sequences on a 2GB RAM system the quicksave takes 10s and the quickload can reach a minute. A minute is defenitely not "quick". Finally the first goldmaster was filled up with so many serious bugs that most german gaming magazines gave no final rating. Now they work out a second goldmaster.
Im very annoyed about all these preview infos. I used to buy a Gothic game without question. Now I'll wait until WS implementation and some patches. G3 should be a great game but based on my current info I'm very sceptic.
Write your opinions when you play it. I'll then decide if I buy or not. I'm very disappointed. :(

Gothic 3 does support widescreen. I read it on their forums. It said that the game will support widescreen.

Yes, Klisto1 is right.
The game will support 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10.

The first Gothic was really fun. I didn't like Gothic 2, so maybe this one will be better?

Really? Where did you found it. I've read all these threads and FAQs at worldofgothic and found out it doesn't support WS.

I have an abonnement of Gamestar for seven years now. Trust me, they have no idea about hardware. They are just the best gamers mag in Germany but don't ask them for hardware issues.;)

HardwareLuxx. In general most printed mags concerning HW are not up to date. They simply can't. I like to read online: Hardwareluxx, Computerbase, Heise, Andatech and so on...

Hmmm, lets hope its true. An Official in the German forum said it doesn't support WS. Maybe the new Goldmaster 2 will. :)

My friend really enjoyed 1 but never got around to playing 2. I may have to borrow 'em off him and try em out a bit before giving 3 a whirl.
At the very least I'm sure it'll be a nice transition game to some others coming out this season :P.

First czech mega-review
http://games.tiscali.cz/reviews/gothic3/index.asp, 84% but only because it is "buggy", they said they would give more then 90 if it was not.
Their opinions: Very top-hardware demanding game (not just graphics card and memory, but processor as well - in towns with lost of people was not X2 3800 enough). Very nice game for all those that love RPGs. If you did not play Gothic 1+2, you will be i trouble, as the game does not introduce you to the storyline.

Well, I'll give this game a few months for some bug-fixing patches to be released. After Titan Quest, I'm not buying games on the day of release any more...
...that said, I bought Deus Ex the day it was released, and had no end of fun and no bugs...

Me too. Gothic 3 is really disappointing. :( They had so much time and worked out such a horrible program. The look is much worse than Oblivion but it needs even more powerful PCs. The fighting system is just a joke. All these bugs are destroying the atmosphere.
Today I decided to go for another RPG: VAMPIRE BLOODLINES. Sure it was very buggy at its release, but the community developed it to a great RPG...actually much better than Gothic 3.
I also keep DEUS EX in mind. A great game! But its sucessor Invisible War destroyed all my hopes for an worthy Deus Ex 2. This happend to Railroad Tycoon 2, to Master of Orion 2, to Betrayal at Krondor and to Fallout 2. Now its Gothic which dies. :( It seems that all these games I really enjoyed in the past are followed by terrible sucessors which mark the end of some excellent gaming ideas.:(

Blue, have you played the game already? Your last post made it sound like you have. I know it was already released in some countries. If so, what is it that you don't like?
I've read the previews and I haven't read anything that would disuade me from playing. People commenting on the quirky combat system, but I liked the combat system of the previous games. Bugs, sure, but they get patched. I think it's a bit early to just write this game off.
Oblivion was eye candy, nothing more. I felt the scaling world completely ruined the game. The only way the game was playable was heavily modded for me. So the reviews stating this game is not like Oblivion actually make me want to play it more. :)
