News release from SHARP - all bets are off

Post by racerx »

I realize I wont be buying this tomorrow, but Sharp is developing a monitor that allows THREE different images to emmit from the same LCD at an angle. Allowing a CENER monitor and TWO side MIRRORS to give he same thing as the THREE monitor TRIPLE Head2Go setup.

See the photo. I am amazed.

I am (previously decided to put off the 3 monitor setup due to space constraints and the fact that I would use this only in RACE games. I am quite happy with the widescreen 16:10 for shooters.

This is cool. One monitor two mirrors, no smoke. (SHARP can call it TRIPLEPRICE 2 go)

This might be an op. for Matrox as there will still be a need for 3 signals, just not three LCDs.

Lol, it's still going to cost the same as 3 panels, bc thats what it is. Then how will you get the mirrored look right?

No, this panel is for family room LCD TVs or in car displays who have kids who want to watch disney and parents who want to watch primetime.

Its great technology, but i cant really see much of a use for it...
the way they showed it with the mirrors might work if you wanted 3 monitors for the price of 1 and 2 mirrors.

Would it require drivers to conrol the display of each "screen"?

Thats why I say it will be called TriplePriced 2Go! lol

Yes it wouild require three signals, therefor a TH2G or equivalent.

Two mirrors placed at the proper angle would direct the two side images too you and look a exactly like 3 monitor sitting side by side. What you put on those monitor would be up to you, but ofcourse it COULD show a surround screen game or surround screen movie.

This is possible, and are you kidding, of course it would cost more.

The photo they show are of three distinct images, therefore the images could be a surround game.

Whatever ...

Errrm... wouldn't having the images displayed on a mirror mean it was back to front??

This looks like pointless technology to me

It will probably be overpriced, and I can't imagine a response time that is useable for gaming...
