No where near as bad ... but then the "Next Generation" content is disabled in the demo ... I think HDR and some graphics details ... vegetation and shadows and bump maps.
Take a look at this ... ...
From 3D gamers ... PC screenshot ...
My screenshot of about the same place with everything at max ...
AND ... I found that if I turned OFF AA in the game but ON in the Nvidia Control .. my fps went up about 25 ... but they could be using a higher AA than the 2xQ I used. 4xAA in the Nvidia control gave me about 15fps better. Whichever of those settings I used I could see very little difference between them at 1920x1200.

The readme says ...
For installer size reasons on this demo version, the ‘Next Generation’ graphics option has been de-activated. However please check back after the 7th April 2006 for an update which will unlock all the high-end content and fully optimise the demo to that of the full retail version.

Yeah ... but ... if they can and are going to release this content in a patch for the demo after the 7th then I suspect that the real reason is not because of file size ...

I'm downloading the "full-size demo" (*cough**cough*) at the moment. Hehe. 18 hour remaining. Once I move houses in the next few months I've gotta get a proper Internet connection - 512kbps just isn't good anymore. Anyway, I'll let you guys know how the next-gen graphics run on the PC then.

i would just like to say i am also stuck at the above point, how lame... how i ever managed to finish the first one is beyond me :)

isn't it a very bad idea releasing a demo with all the nice graphics disabled?
goes against the whole purpose of a "demo" imo.
if I hadn't read this thread, I would have just presumed that the PC version's graphics sucked.

the spec readme said 7800 512 card or xt 1800 so i was expecting something really nice, but got what looked like an xbox game. i agree turning of candy is a weird idea before launch :)

Well the Widescreen Option is ONLY 16:9, but PC TFT are often 16:10 Aspec Ratio, so the Developers made one more mistake in this loveless conversion from PS2 to PC... Just look at the legs and the neck of Lara, the Textures arent "closed" around the Polygon Modell completely.
Look:
16:10 without Interpolation

16:10 with Interpolation (black bars on the upper/lower Side)

And the glitches:

You should mention that it is 16:9 Widescreen and no 16:10 Support ;)
Some Widescreen Modells dont support Interpolation...

these glitches are at there whatever ... 4:3 ... 16:10 ... 16:9 ... :?

how can you tell if it is 16:9 or 16:10, as i can get it to accept my res of 1680 x 1050? I normally leave my monitor set to 1:1 so i would presume if it was 16:9 i would get bars?

You are using a 16:10 res and so no black bars ... but the view/FOV is the same as you would get if you chose a 16:9 resolution ... but the view is wider than 4:3.
As I say the glitches are there whatever resolution you choose.
