Bloodrayne 2 ??
Hey guys, I just bought BR2 and it doesn't support WS out of the box :(
I mean, c'mon the xbox version does!
there's a rayne.ini file with these lines
gamePIXX=1600
gamePIXY=1200
but editing them doesn't do anything
also there's a line
showVideoOptionsAtStartup=1
but it always shows the options at startup no matter what!
Anyone have any ideas, or has gotten this to work?

I'm trying to figure out the exact same thing. Great game, but I want wiidescreen support.
Each time I mod the rayne.ini it simple write right back over it with the options at startup. Its driving me mad!

Yup... can you get it to not display the startup options dialogue?
I can't!
I can't!

Set the .ini to read only after making a change?
I played the demo, but I can't remember if allowed me access to widescreen resolutions. I think it did, but I was using a 4:3 ratio screen at the time for a gaming box...

maybe you have to add something to the game shortcut? like
"blahblah.exe"
"blahblah.exe
Bloodrayne 2 ??
Anyone find a solution for this yet?

I went nuts over the bad PC-conversion. It took them ages to get it released, and over one year after its still not avaiable here in Europe. Also even original Bloodrayne had the possibility to do a simple edit to get WS on PC. And its impossible to get it AA:ed, been trying all forced modes in NVidia cp but no AA. But at least AF is on and textures look good.
Anyway, the video-resolution thing is hardcoded into the application and always sets the ini-file to the ones that are selectable (only 4:3 and 5:4 ones).
So I did some noob exe-file editing, and to my surprise it worked. I cant tell you how to do it though, as it might wreck stuff if you do it wrong, and another factor is at play too.
There are some problems though. 1) The menu at start gets the "exit" option outside screen. 2) The interface ingame is a bit to large for the resolution. Dunno about the fov, but at least its 1:1 resolution for the screen and looks good on my eyes.
Original 1280x1024 res (from demo):
Ingame picture 1680x1050 ws (full game);
Ingame UI a bit large, but at least inside screen;
Ingame cinematics with text are good;
Start-menu "exit" option outside screen;

Here is how I did it:
1) Install game as normal
2) Get Deviance nocd-patch from GCW:
[Removed Link to Game Copy World - Google for it]
(Need it for de-crypted exe, and no-cd is great too of course)
3) Rename the orginal file and add the nocd-exe.
4) Use a hex-editor and find the lines with resolutions that you can run and is suitable to change for 16:10. F.e.:
Change it to something you want to run, like change the 1280 x 1024 entry to 1680 x 1050.
5) Run the game, and now choose your new res.
This works fine for me, and I have also solved the AA problem (now set AA in the NVidia toolbar menu to affect general setting instead of using it from the Profile).

This should be moved to the "Solutions" page. This does indeed work.
Good job Buio!
This is a FOV-V "fix"
I have screens that demostrate this if need be.

Bloodrayne 2 ??
Hi guys ...
Glad to see you are getting somewhere with this ...
Some screens from same position in the game would be good ... one before the change and one after.
@ Buio ... what Hex editor did you use?
and regarding ...
Thanks guys ...
I can then add/move it to the Solutions section ... :D

Bloodrayne 2 ??
EDIT: n/m...i figured it out through a ton of trial and error. :D
if anyone figures out how to make it widescreen,without the game cropping off to top/bottom parts of the viewing area, by all means contribute as that would make this even more enjoyable.

Bloodrayne 2 ??
Wow thanx guys.
I just got this running in 1920x1200 -looks great.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THE HEX EDITOR:
(!) Make sure you have the unencrypted version of the bloodrayne .exe -
[Find the Game Copy World link with Google, please]
(!) get the hex editor -
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm
1 - open BL2 exe with xvi32
2 - use the editors' search function. Enter 1600 x 1200 into the text field, and press the convert button to convert to hex. Then search.
3 - You will see that the First hex value is highlighted.
4 - open the search function again, and use the text -> hex converter to give you a value for your desired resolution. DO NOT SEARCH.
5 - Copy and paste the new value into notepad.
6 - cancel the search, and open your notepad.
7 - The result of your original search should still be highlighted on screen.
8 - compare the notepad hex line with the one in the editor.
9 - Change the appropriate values.
10 -Save. DONE :)
examples:
1600 x 1200 = 31 36 30 30 20 78 20 31 32 30 30
1920 x 1200 = 31 39 32 30 20 78 20 31 32 30 30
note: remember to put in the spaces (1600 x 1200 NOT 1600x1200) when you search or convert.
Thnx.
Screenies coming.
:)
Mod Edit: Please don't link to sites containing cracked .exes. :) Thanks - it keeps the WSGF safe. ;)

Bloodrayne 2 ??
I've edited your post to remove the link - those who need the file will have to use Google. Direct links to sites containing cracks are a bad thing. ;)
