punkbuster kicks for fov ?

Hi Guys i'm new at this but i have a dell 24 inch coming this week, i think i read somewhere that if you play around with the fov you get kicked by punkbuster for cheating, is this true ?. if it is it's bullshit, just because someone has a bigger monitor that may give them an advantage that is no different to someone having broadband and a lower ping than somebody with dialup. Maybe punkbuster would like us all to play with
generic compaqs from circuit city ?.

not sure, but i know that FOV hacks can get you kicked off a server, i run UT2004 with 95* not the normal 90* with 4:3 and i havent been kicked off any server at all. But it might be different for >100*

I don't know about recent games, but that was a pretty common tactic Quake 3 players used. They'd play with a wide view on a normal 4:3 monitor. That was a few years back tho.

i havent gotten kick from BF2 or Rise of nations for using FOV hacks

Call of Duty does not even allow you to change the FOV in Multiplayer. The INI hack that works for SP does not work for MP. I agree that this is an idiotic restriction. Widescreen adds approximately 30% more pixels over a 4:3 aspect ratio (that's with an equal increase in FOV). I could count on one hand the number of times having that extra 30% made any difference in my gaming performance in all games I have played online in widescreen.

More gaming companies need to pull the joystick out of their ass and wise up that widescreen gaming is the future. It's not cheating! :evil:

Enemy Territory with PunkBuster gives me no problems (yet), while I do have extra FOV. Didn't have to change the fov setting though - it just did it right on changing the resolution.
