Problems with Flashpoint

I found the resolution definitions in "Flashpoint.cfg", not "UserInfo.cfg". I couldn't find any FOV definitions in either of the two cfgs. Whether this has anything to do with my problem, I don't know.
The problem: Whenever I start Flashpoint, with any setting, I get an error: "Cannot create 3D device."

Any ideas?
