Hidden and Dangerous 2? Widescreen capable?

Hi all,

I can't seem to find any way to get HD2 into WS mode. I briefly looked fora config file but couldn't find anything.

H&D2 uses the same graphics engine as Mafia. You would think it would support widescreen resolutions as Mafia does, but it doesn't.

The settings are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREIllusion SoftworksHidden & Dangerous 2LS3D_setup

I tried to modify the hex values to match Mafia. The best I could do was getting it to fill the width of the screen, but the menu text and buttons were displaced and I couldn't get any further with it.

Damn, that sucks. Maybe I'll email the techsupport.

Has anyone got any further with H&D2 in widescreen since this post? It's the only FPS I've got that hasn't got a solution listed in the Master Game List.

H&D2 doesn't support widescreen properly. Check out this thread which i just posted now especially for you. :)

I've managed to get H&D2 running in 1680x1050 for my NEC LCD20WGX2. After installing the game, I ran the HD&2 configuration/setup utility - but it would only let me go up to 1400x1050.

Then I read through the solution, and edited the registry as suggested. I could see the 1050 in hex already there. After changing the 1400 to 1680, I re-ran the game. This time, my monitor didn't complain about not being in 1680x1050 mode.

The only down-side is the HUD is half-obscured off the top and bottom of the screen. You can live without the compass, but not being able to see your health or ammo remaining is a bit tricky. It does look good, though. 8)
