Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Re: Knights of the Old Republic II
I can play the movie files from desktop without problems. When the game is supposed to play a movie it just skips it entirely. No black screen or sound. Im not using any mods.

I'm so confused right now.
The Universal Screen Patcher didn't help, if I did it right.
And the hex thingamajig only makes me more confused. Am I supposed to patch the game with USP before tampering with the ini?
Also, if you're kind enough, post step bt step instructions for newbies like me.

Have you tried the procedure listed on the games Detailed Report?

I've played KOTOR2 in 1920x1080 mode, recently got a 30" 2560x1600 monitor so I tried changing the resolution using UNIWS. The resolution change is fine, but I also put in the minimap fix for 16:10 and that *ISN'T* working. I've tested it at 1920x1200 and the map is fine at that resolution, so I know the fix isn't completely broken. Is there a specific minimap fix for 2560x1600?

I am using the restored content mod. UniWS doesn't seem to work after the restored content mod is installed. Is there a way to get the two to work together? Or a way to get widescreen working with the restored content mod? Thanks.

Guys ...any chance either of the programs can be updated for the 1.0C unofficial patch? ...the swkotor2.exe file version says 2.0.0.0 ....BUT none of the programs work to force the game to run at 1920x1080 or at least 1680x1050...(both programs as in "Squizzy KOTOR2 Resolution Patcher" or "uniws") ..
The 1.0b patch worked perfectly fine using uniws, but soon as I updated to 1.0C ...it didn't work any more, I figured you guys would have been on the ball about this...no offense..
The 1.0C patch already comes with a no-cd ...since the game will run without the CD ....
I don't wanna replace any files for fear that it may screw up the 1.0C patch in any way..
The patch has a huge fix list ...and it works great ...just the screen is tiny because I cant change the resolution...( if you noticed I have eyefinity ...but I have disabled the other 2 monitors so I can run with my main 24" screen for this game ..)

Im guessing that's a no .... thanks for your help! ..ill just play it at the crappy 1280x1024 resolution on a 1920x1080 screen... the "uniws" one works fine with 1.0B ...but NOT 1.0C ..
Hello,my monitor's max
Hello,
my monitor's max resolution is 1600x900, therefore I cannot set game's resolution to 1280x960, as UniSW tells me, setting .ini's entries to 1600x900 alone didn't work (with patched .exe, of course). What should I do to get higher resolution?

P.S. BTW, my laptop's card is ATI Radeon HD4570 512MB.
My laptop also got a 1366x768 max resolution (on ATI HD6490M)...i found that setting the resolution to 1300x768 makes the game playable (no dialogue options missing), while having only 1cm black stripes on the right/left side of the screen (which shouldnt bother you THAT much).
Note: all higher resolutions (13XX x 768) will result in the removal of dialogue options.
Hello to all,
Hello to all, widescreengaming have helped me more than once with troublesome older games, so I thought I could contribute something

I had the same problem, and before I had read this post I reached a different solution - set your game resolution to 1366x785. You will get a fullscreen experience with no dialogue options missing, but this brings problems of its own:
1) a narrow bar at the top of the screen will not be visible (17 pixels to be exact, 785-768)
2) mouse pointer will be "off" also by 17 pixels
I think this is only a minor inconvenience, but the choice of which method you prefer is yours to make.
Note that resolutions lower than 785 will result in invisible dialogue options, while higher ones will work, but with larger distortions than those mentioned above.

Issue
I have an error that is popping up when I try to patch the .exe which says, "Unable to write to file SWKOTOR2 for patch #1! Close all programs/games before patching" which is followed by, "Errors Found. Unable to patch game!"
I'm not using the retail .exe, but the carbon no-cd crack. The games runs and works great, without a CD, I'm just stuck on getting it to work in widescreen. I'm trying to patch it to 1280x800, as well, and have made the appropriate changes to the swkotor.ini file.

Re: Knights of the Old Republic II
I managed to dig up the hex edits needed for widescreen cutscenes from the Archive. Don't know why they got deleted.
No native support for widescreen resolutions. This is a three-step process. The UniWS should handle the first step for you.
Step One
In the root game directory open the unprotected executable file called "swkotor2.exe" with a HEX editor. Search for all or part of the following HEX values...
00 05 00 00 74 07 3D 40 06 00 00 75 25 8B 07 3D 58 02 00 00 74 28 3D 00 03 00 00 74 21 3D C0 03 00 00
The bolded pair represents the in-game resolution of 1280x960. Change this pair to your desired widescreen resolution. Remember to flip the order of the hexadecimal values.
For example, 1920 is 0780 in hexadecimal. I would flip the order and enter 1920 as "8007". If I wanted to use a 1920x1200 resolution it would look like this...
80 07 00 00 74 07 3D 40 06 00 00 75 25 8B 07 3D 58 02 00 00 74 28 3D 00 03 00 00 74 21 3D B0 04 00 00
Step Two
*I will repeat myself since many might be starting at this step.*
In the root game directory open the unprotected executable file called "swkotor2.exe" with a HEX editor. Search for all or part of the following HEX values...
80 02 00 00 75 15 81 3D E8 C1 80 00 E0 01
Change the bolded resolution pairs to your desired widescreen resolution. Remember to flip the order of the hexadecimal values.
For example, 1920 is 0780 in hexadecimal. I would flip the order and enter 1920 as "8007". If I wanted to use a 1920x1200 resolution it would look like this...
80 07 00 00 75 15 81 3D E8 C1 80 00 B0 04
In the same file search for the following HEX values...
80 02 00 00 C7 44 24 10 E0 01
Repeat the process detailed in the first part of this step with the bolded pairs.
If I am using a 1920x1200 resolution it would look like this...
80 07 00 00 C7 44 24 10 B0 04
Step Three
In the root game directory open "swkotor2.ini" with a text editor. Search for the following under the section "[Display Options]"...
Width=****
Height=****
Change "****" to your desired widescreen resolution.
In the same file search for the following under the section "[Graphics Options]"...
Width=****
Height=****
Change "****" to your desired widescreen resolution.
The game should now start in your desired widescreen resolution.
If you are not in your desired resolution when you reach the main menu select the 1280x960 screen resolution from the "Options"/"Graphics"/"Screen Resolution" menu and exit the game. Repeat step three and you should be in your desired widescreen resolution.

Re: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lord
I played SWKOTOR I these days and I had no problem using UniWS with it. With SWKOTOR II however, I can't get it to work. I get an error telling me that the exe was not found, and I can't change the in-game resolution to anything but 800*600. I will link the error messages so you can see what I am getting. I have the UK version I believe, with 4 CDs.

The hack doesn't work with the exe from the latest patch. Try the following steps.
1. Save swkotor2.exe to another folder after installing the first patch
2. Hack the saved exe with UniWS and if you want the cutscenes to play fullscreen, the manual hex edits I linked above (starting from step two)
3. Install the latest patch
4. Copy the hacked exe back to the game folder
(Or if you don't want to reinstall, try to find the exe from the game disc. This solution might be a little more buggy though.)
Don't try to hack the exe in the Program Files folder on C-drive because Windows blocks file editing there.
Also, be sure to go grap the high quality music and cutscenes and the restoration mod if you haven't already.

Width=****
Height=****
Change "****" to your desired widescreen resolution.
In the same file search for the following under the section "[Graphics Options]"...
Width=****
Height=****
Hi Monsterfish:
I am also not able to get the game patched via UniWS. I am running the Steam version. I have downloaded a HEX viewer, but I am lost trying to find the values you show. Any tips or specific locations you can give to help me find those values?

Is it this cutscene hacks that don't work with the Steam and/or latest patch version, or UniWS, or both?
Is there a reason that one or both cannot work with the Steam version other than that they haven't been updated to do so?
I'd rather sacrifice widescreen support than roll back to an older version of the .exe.

Re: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lord
So I have been looking around and perhaps you guys can help me. I decided to star using mods for Kotor 2 and now my lightsabers are all these weird hexagons and I don't know how to fix that. Do any of you know how to fix it?
