I think steam updated the game ? I seen that something downloaded when starting up the game yesterday and now I open up Widescreen fixer, start the game, and get a Widescreen fixer not responding and needs to close message. So I alt-tab out of game and restart the Widescreen fixer and all is good after that . but something is amiss???

I have the latest version of BO MP wsf

I'm not sure. Nothing downloaded here. Sometimes Steam will randomly re-download the main .exe file. WSF should still work.

The crash might be related to rescanning the .exe when you run the game.

When it tries to get information on whether it's a retail, Steam, or other version, it will check the path of the .exe (for Steam), a MD5 for retail, and whatever method for others. If it tries to open the file too soon, it can't and will crash. The same might happen if you try to enable the fix too soon. I added a 5-second thread delay when you first launch the game to give it time to start itself up.

I'll look into the crash more and add in some exceptions for it so it doesn't crash the app entirely.

Yeah. There were just a lot of changes I implemented and, while it works on my end, it doesn't mean it will work for everyone. Next time you get a crash, pastebin the crash report so I can get a better idea of where it's crashing. Some other people have already provided me with one and it's helping out. Thanks.

Hi

Im having problems with the mouse flying everywhere.

It happens when i use 3 monitors and the widescreen fixer. When i remove widescreen fixer it kills much of it, but is still something left.

It only happens in call of duty mw2 and black ops not bc2, l4d or anything.

Anyone had this problem?

A little more detail on what you mean by mouse flying everywhere would be helpful. it might be related to you in game mouse sensitivity. check your settings..I have never heard of widescreen fixer . doing anything to the way the mouse moves.

It's not the mouse og sensitivity. i have tried with several mouses and changed settings on each of them.

When i play and everything is ok, 20 seconds later i suddenly jump 180 degres or aim straight into the air.

When i turn off the widescreen fixer and set the monitors to only play wih one it works much better.

The previous version that i used in mw2 worked enough to play with. when i log into mw2 with this version it's even more unplayable :S

Have you tried to play the game in multi-mon WITHOUT widescreen fixer loaded? It will look horrible, but it will be worth seeing if you have the same mouse problems, as this doesn't sound like an issue with WSF.

Are you forcing the pointer to be in software mode (to deal with pointer corruption eyefinity issues)?

I get weird mouse effects when I forget to set it back to hardware mode before starting a game.

Assuming that the issue still existed without WSF loaded would indicate that something else was the cause. And that you have tried several mouses with the same result rules out a hardware issue. are you running wired or wireless? sometimes running wireless mouses in the same proximity of other wireless devices can create problems like that. I would also try going start> msconfig and turn off some running services programs except Microsoft and see if you still have the problem ?

I will try these when i get off work.

When i load the game without wsf it is very playable, but some is still there. Could it be something with the ati drivers too?

Hey dopefish, have you messed with halo 2 for windows vista?
It tripleheads in windowed mode (just need to use a hot key in ultramon, or an ultramon shortcut) but playing multiplayer is extremely hard when your radar is off to the far left (you can imagine with 30"rs how off of my own FOV the radar is).
Do you think you could do a HUD fix?

I have no idea. I was never able to get the HUD centered for the first Halo game. I'm not sure if it's possible to do it with Halo 2, especially if it uses the same engine.

I know on the Xbox People were able to move and edit the HUD. I'm not sure what went into it. I don't believe it was a map edit. But it might be, but in that case, it's kinda an impossibility.

Trying to get COD4 to work on my Eyefinity monitor arrangement. It works, but I get a flickering and it seems to be related to the update rate of widescreen fixer. It seems that for a split second when being updated the aspect ratio is lost and then returns. It causes a sort of flicker effect. Any ideas?

Using v2.3.59 of Widescreen Fixer
COD4 1.7
HD5850
Catalyst Control Center 10.10
Driver Version 8.782.0.0

Widescreen Fixer....

Post by Urlacher54 »

Earlier today I used this program to play COD:Black Ops(ATI Eyefinity)

Tonight when I launch the game, I get a widescreen fixer error and the program has to be closed.

Anyone else having this problem at the moment?

cheers

Found the issue.

Apparently when I would close the Widescreen Fixer program it was minimizing to my windows tray. I had like 10 of them running in there and it was causing the flicking. I am guessing becase all of them were each trying to modify the aspect ratio at the same of slightly different times.

All good now.
