Sorry, I wasn't thinking when I used "FOV". That's not the problem. Some pics will clear up what I mean, but first a little more background.

Yes, I am using the original exe. Nothing messed with there, DVD is in the drive for checks as normal. It is the retail version, not steam. I tried selecting the steam version in WSF but it did not recognize it at all. It recognizes it when retail version is selected.

Here is the exact procedure I am following:

Start WSF, select the game.
Start COD4, default settings, changing only resolution to 5040x1050, open a mission and wait for it to load
Tab out and check WSF. Here is what is shows:

Here's the game before pressing the hotkey:

The image looks compressed vertically, or perhaps more accurately, the vertical FOV is too wide. Horizontal FOV is correct.

After pressing the hotkey and tabbing out, WSF looks like this:

Game does not change in any way. Here is approximately the same view after pressing the hotkey and verifying that WSF thinks the fix is active:

I have used your program with both MW2 and Black Ops with no problems, so I don't think I am fundamentally misunderstanding how to use it. I hope I have not missed something really obvious, but it doesn't seem to be working with COD4 the way it did with the other two.

Looking at this thread: [url]http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/8385], my screen always looks like the first screen shot posted, while I was expecting it to look like the fourth once the fix was active, but I see no change.

I tried the above procedure ithout tabbing out, so the task switching is not causing it. I also tried re-assigning the hotkey, but that doesn't seem to be the problem as WSF is detecting the hotkey. I also tried running WSF as ad administrator, but that also made no difference.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Try setting the widescreen fixer to 3x16:10 and not putting a custom one on there.

That is really very odd.

The Steam version should say unrecognized, but you can still enable the fix to test it out. It would show a 0 in-game under the aspect-ratio if it's not going to work.

Unfortunately I have the Steam version of the game so I can't really have you send me the .exe since I won't pass the CD check.

If you'd like, and you have an hour of free time to test stuff, get ahold of me on MSN or GTalk and I can work out some things with you.

My contact info is on the Widescreen Fixer page.

Thanks for the offer. I will do a little more troubleshooting, turn off all non-essential processes and re-test, just to be sure it's really a problem with the software and the game version. If I am still getting the same results, I'll take you up on the offer.

Can anyone else test this with COD4 1.7 retail and see if this is just my setup? It's just weird how MW2 works just fine, and MW doesn't.

Re: the other suggestion above, I tried with both the pre-sets (3x16:10) and putting in a custom resolution--no luck either way.

Dopefish, I just started noticing a issue. I'm not sure if it is related to the WSF or not . the perks (Text) on the center screen lower right have been moving over during the game . and eventually cover a portion of my weapon. Sometimes all the text will be right over the weapon. I first started noticing this tonight after we changed our server to Unranked instead of Ranked. do you have any Idea what this could be or have a fix for it . Thanks

I have the steam version of the game.

here are some screens.. I will try some ranked servers to see if it does it on there.

Okay tried a couple of hardcore ranked servers and didn't even have the perks showing so this must be just an issue with playing on unranked servers . could someone else try a unranked server and try to re create the issue .

I remember a similar problem with Call of Duty 4. I'll look into it. Thanks for letting me know.

Hey Mr. Fish
Great job on BO
Any headway on the cut scenes being slightly off center? Other than that it's PERFECT....
Thanks again for all your hard work

Big thanks for that tip, it set me on the right path.

So I loaded WSF 1.66, which lists 2 methods for COD4. Method 1 either didn't work, or crashed the program.

Method 2 changed the screen, but it increased the FOV so things were even more distorted, if I used the correct setting of 3x16:10.

BUT, if I set it to the wrong setting, 3x5:4, it worked perfectly.

I wondered if the "methods" were steam vs. retail, so I went back and tried the current version of WSF again set to COD4 Steam. It came up as "unrecognized" but it worked--but only if set to the correct setting 3x16:10. 3x5:4 didn't work. :?

I have no idea what to make of that, but I am up and running, so all good here.

Yes. They used to be called Method 1 and Method 2. I tried renaming them to Steam and Retail since the methods were for particular versions. I wasn't 100% sure when I named them. That's why I told you to try the Steam one anyway. ;)

Also, if 3x16:10 is the setting you need, why would you want to use 3x5:4? Are you just not liking the distortion on the side monitors? That's normal in games because they only use one frustum to render the scene with.

I'll reinstall the Steam version of CoD4 and test the setting again. If mine works with the Steam setting, I may just have to rename them from Steam&Retail to something else again.

I'll do another test when I have time and post pics.

Well of course, when I fire up the game tonight, ready to take screen shots, nothing odd happens. The correct aspect ratio settings worked.

Other than needing to use Steam for the retail version, looks like nothing anomalous.

Weird results before were probably from not restarting the game each time when trying different version of WSF and different setting.

So I'm trying to get Call of Duty 4 to work at 6050x1080 (bezel correction after 5760x1080) with the newest widescreen fixer (v2.3.59) and the newest Call of duty 4 .dll's. First of all I have the steam version but the widescreen fixer will only see the game if I set the options drop down box to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare MP v 1.7, not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare MP v 1.7 (Steam). Second of all I can't seem to get the game to run at my resolution, I'm a bit confused on how to get it to work. Does the INGAME Call of Duty 4 resolution matter? When I'm running single screen (non Nvidia surround) I can select 1920x1080, but when I enable Nvidia Surround (which is what I'm supposed to do, right?), that resolution option disappears. What INGAME resolution do I want to select and what widescreen fixer options do I want to select? 3 x 16:9? 6050 x 1080?

I got the game working at 5050 x 1200 i believe and 5050 x 1050, although its the wrong aspect ratio and it has tremendous input lag making the game uplayable.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Right now I am getting my system setup for three monitors. I've had to borrow monitors from friends to test games with three monitors, but now I'm getting a setup that will be permanent for myself. Once that is in place, I expect that I'll go through and fix up every CoD game (MW to BO) the best that I can. Please have some more patience. I expect everything to be ready within a week or two.

what i really wanted to do is up the fov in cod:bo ...is that possible? i mean, the fix is nice, fov is a little higher with it, but i would like to have an even higher fov (im used to values from 90 to 120, depending on game and calculation method)

edit: im on a single monitor, 16:9 ratio btw

Hi guys, I'm in the same boat... How can I up FOV higher than 90? on a single monitor (1920x1080) , 16:9 ratio also

- Thanks in Advance -

I just released an updated plugin for Black Ops SP.

I wasn't sure of the version number for single-player since the console no longer works. I just matched the version number to the MP version number in hopes that they are the same. :)
