could someone help me? when i use widescreenfixer for black ops the hud is centered and menus are look great but the game is still stretched. did i put something wrong? i used 3x 16:10 for settings. hayden's fix works for me but the hud isnt centered

Interesting. Is Steam the only way to use Black Ops? What country are you in? Could you send me your .exe files? Does it not work for both SP and MP?

havent tried sp only mp. what exe files do you need? you can pm me an address to mail it to. currently the only way i made it work properly is to use haydens to load it up and yours to get the hud to the middle. im in canada.

Edit: dont know if this affects anything but my game was activated way way too early i think.. i somehow was able to play the game when it said 18hrs left on steam

Can you try telling steam to validate your files and see if it replaces any of them?

If not, you can zip up the two exe files and upload them here:

Thanks.

uhm i dont really get how the widescreen fixer works...or im expecting too much. at the main tab i put in ratio of my monitor.
so, does it matter what i've set the in-game option to?
and the greyed out numbers on main tab, what do they mean?

what i really wanted to do is up the fov in cod:bo ...is that possible? i mean, the fix is nice, fov is a little higher with it, but i would like to have an even higher fov (im used to values from 90 to 120, depending on game and calculation method)

edit: im on a single monitor, 16:9 ratio btw

Hmm, was working fine this morning but I think they patched Black Ops and now the widescreen fixer isn't working again. When I enable it, I lose all menu and HUD elements. You can't even exit the game properly and have kill it in task manager.

Or is it just me?

Yes, the patch today seemed to screw up the Fixer. We'll have to wait for the nice guy Dopefish to make an update I believe.

Yes, the game was patched a few hours ago and the current version of WSF will no longer work properly. All HUD elements or Menu options will disappear.

Sit tight and wait for an update. :onethumb

(Any posts after this - please don't just post "it isn't working". We know! Be patient :) )

SP fix was great - thanks so much for fixing the annoying text stretching. Playing the campaign across three monitors is just something to behold.

I sure wish I could find a strait answer if this could, or could not get you VAC banned. There are so many thoughts on the matter out there. all the different thoughts on it has me kind of paranoid now. Valves description of what gets you banned is so vague and open for interpretation. what I would like is some of these folks that say they know someone who has been banned using the WSF. to point out there source.

I just released some updates:

[Game.Call of Duty Black Ops MP] Fixed position of misc. items in Black Ops MP.[/*:m]

[Game.Call of Duty Black Ops SP] Fixed position of misc. items and videos in Black Ops SP.[/*:m]

[Game.Call of Duty 4 SP] Fixed a bug with Call of Duty 4 that would make it show updates twice.[/*:m]

[Game.Wolfenstein] Added in Steam detection of Wolfenstein.[/*:m][/list:u]

More items should be centered in Black Ops now, including videos in SP.

A note about the videos, though. They are 16:9. If you use 3x16:10, the video will go over to the side monitors. I'll see what I can do about this later.

AFAIK, no one has ever been banned using this on MW2. I used it for months, and I've been using it now on Black Ops since its release. There's always the chance it could (incorrectly) be seen as a cheat at some point though. :?

First, huge thanks for the Black Ops fix. Just finished my first play through, and it was fanstastic to have eyefinity working from the start.

After that, I decided to fire up COD4 SP, because I had never played that one on Eyefinity. Did a clean install, updated to 1.7, but the widescreen fixer hotkey did not seem to do anything, even though it detected the game and showed the aspect ratio chaning when I pressed the hotkey and tabbed out.

Troubleshooting I already tried:

Tried different aspect ratio settings in MW, Auto, 4:3, 16:10, no difference.

Tried WSF set at 3x16:10 and Custom 5040:1050.

Tried using old versions of WSF. Version 1.46.8 moved the HUD when hotkey was pressed, but FOV didn't change.

WSF COD4 DLL version is 1.3.68.0, from the the 11/12 release.
i wasn't sure what to do about setting the FOV Calculator? I selected Source and Destination both as 3 x 16:9.(?)

The FOV calculator is just a calculator. It does not interact with the game at all.

And I changed the Hotkey to Alt. +left existing two default boxes checked as is.

You can't set it to just Alt. It has to be Alt, Shift, or Control, plus any other key on the keyboard. The default is * (asterisk). If you left it *, and checked the box next to Alt, then to enable the fix, you would press Alt + *.

Let me know if this works for you. :)

Thanks for your response Dopefish. I understand about the FOV calculator-i thought it was maybe a function of operation in some way and I wasn't selecting properly or? and that's why it wouldn't start etc. Anyway the start buttons Shift + Asterik is what I started with, and like i said nothing is happening. I just switched to the Alt + Asterik because i thought it might need to be changed etc. I was just trying to get it to respond etc. What should happen? I'm selecting the specific game from the drop down box selection in your Fixer's Main screen etc and then pressing Shift + Asterik Should your Widescreen Fixer at that time respond and indicate Game Running and Fix Enabled and Aspect Ratio? Because nothing is happening then or after I open the game and again press the Shift + Asterik etc. I understand that this command both turns on and off the WSGfixer, but I don't see anything happening. Either before i open the game and select the 5760 x 1080 on the games's menu or after. Or am I wrong and I need to leave the Game Options set to 1920 x 1080 or etc? I've been going into the Game Options after attempting to start the fixer and then changing the Graphic Options to 5760x1080 but it still looks the same when I play as it did before the fixer. And I see examples of your Fixer control panel indicating Gamer Running etc ans I've mentioned before I've yet to get such a response.

Got in other ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks Tom

EDIT:
No! forget what I said. Because I've just kept trying different games--and now I've got the 5760 x 1080 working good when I play multi COD2? So that's new. Never had that before. And I saw in some other action from your Fixer Main screen in that on some other game it said game running but not supported etc? or ? Anyway its working, and I wasn't getting anything before. So I'll just keep experimenting. Thanks

Congrats on getting CODBlackOPs fix up and running so quickly/awesome.

Tom

EDIT 2 : Sorry!! Its late! I shoulda trimmed that last post for sure. Gota go to bed.

Are you sure it isn't running in your system tray? If you minimised it last time you used it, it remembers that and so will load up minimised. The icon is a blue rectangle.

yeah I am sure ... I am running Win 7 and I have the icon pinned to my taskbar. When I start the app, nothing comes up. If I click the icon again, it just starts another instance of the application.

in all the frustration I clicked it like 10 times .... lol ... and I had 10 windescreen fixers running !!!!! lol but none of them actually come up , I can only see them in taskbar manager.

There are two SP options, one for retail and one for Steam. Have you tried both? A good way to know if it will work before enabling it is to load the game, load Widescreen Fixer, load a map. Look at the aspect-ratio value. If it's 0, it's not going to work. If it says 1.333, 1.6, 1.777, then it will work.

Version 1.46.8 moved the HUD when hotkey was pressed, but FOV didn't change.

The fix corrects the HUD and aspect-ratio. It does not modify the FOV.

Are you using a non-cracked .exe file? Widescreen Fixer does not work with cracked .exe's of games. Are you using the Steam version of retail version?
