I would definately advise you skip most of that and just buy The Sands of Time, $10 in a jewel case most places... Amazing game.
I would advise *you* not to skip the original Prince of Persia. That is an amazing game.

I know, I played it back in the day, but I would not tell someone to start there today.

As an introduction to the series, which is what he asked for, I would say skipt it, yes. If he loves the modern ones and wants to delve further into the series the original is still very worthwhile, I agree.
