I must be really thick or something. Running COD4-MW, I can get Widescreen Fixer to "work" in that I see Widescreen Fixer toggles between Fix Enabled: Yes and Fix Enabled:No when I press * in-game, but visually it makes no difference what so ever. Everything's still stretched. Resolution is correct at 3x5:4 (3840x1024 via analogue TH2Go) but getting a big-time stretch.

Do I have to enable the console or something or edit a config file somewhere before Widescreen Fixer works? There are no instructions included with the files.

I really appreciate your efforts Dopefish, been using stuff from you for yonks. :D

Are you using the original .exe file or a crack Mr Pibb ?

Thanks for the reply.

I just downloaded and installed game from game.com. Game.com claim all (old) games are pre-patched to latest patch. I *assume* it would be v1.7.

Installation went well (with activation code). No CD was required to play.

I thought that maybe it wasn't 1.7 version after all, and that may be why the Widescreen Fixer wasn't working. So, I just attempted to install patch 1.7. Big mistake. 1.7 patch tols me I need 1.6 first. (No instructions supplied as usual). Patched to 1.6, then to 1.7. Now I can't play at all 'cos a DVD is required. Great.

Will uninstall, and re-install and see what version it is BEFORE patching.

Edit: I've uninstalled/reinstalled. Game is pre-patched to v1.7. Widescreen Fixer does not do anything, but at least I can play. It's better on single screen unsquashed than stretched via TH2Go.

Shame really, I've managed to play EVERYTHING I've ever tried on TH2Go to date.

I'm getting the same issue as Mr Pibb with the Steam version of COD4:MW (I assume it's 1.7 - Steam thinks it's the latest) and version 2.0.19.663 of your fix (also running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit if that makes any difference). However, I'm running at an odd resolution (4080x768) since I can't afford another two 16:9 monitors yet (running on a 16:9 and 2 4:3's). Under "Main" it says:

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare SP v1.7 (Steam)
3 x 16:9

Status
Game Running: Yes
Fix Enabled: Yes (toggles when I press numpad *)
Value: 5.333333

So it seems to be working ok, but I'm not seeing any difference in-game. I followed the instructions on widescreenfixer.org on a fresh installation of the game (no hacked EXEs or administrator/compatibility settings). I even tried running the fix under administrator mode and in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode with no change.

Thanks in advance for any help - I'm probably just being dense.

Also, about the bezel management: From what I read on this in an ATI whitepaper on Eyefinity, the pixels hidden by the bezels are loaded into the framebuffer but not scanned out the any of the displays in the Eyefinity group. I don't have bezel management running on my system since the pixel densities of my monitors are too different for it to be enabled, but the whitepaper suggests that the pixels hidden behind the bezels will be added to the total resolution (i.e. 5936x1200 for 3x1920x1200 + 176 pixels behind bezels). It says the Windows control panel is unaware of the bezel management so it would report 5936x1200 (as I assume older games not using the ATI Eyefinity API would). So, in conclusion I think you're right that you would need to be able to enter your own resolution (I guess the program would calculate the correct aspect ratio). If I can pull an EDID hack or something similar to get bezel management working, I'd be happy to test it for you. Wish I had another £600-£700 to spear for matching secondary monitors (I'm using a 32" LG 32LH3000 as a main, so I'd want to get 2 more of those is possible =D - I got this pre-Eyefinity so it's not worked out brilliantly longterm).

Mr Pibb, I haven't tried the version from Game.com. It may use a different executable than Steam or Retail. If you can, send me your CoD4 .exe files and I'll see what I can do with them.

SiriusDragon, I'll have to take a look at it again. My copy of Wolfenstein is also retail. Try starting Widescreen Fixer first, wait until the main menu appears, and then press the hotkey and see if the screen becomes unstretched. If it doesn't work, send me your .exe file and gamex86.dll.

I'm interested in everyone trying out the hotkey and letting me know how it works. It should operate much better than before.

Yes, its perfect, tested with COD MW2 (SP) and Ghost Recon, nice job m8. :cheers

[Game.Call of Duty 4 SP] Fixed v1.7 offsets for the Steam version.

Somehow the offsets for v1.7 of the Steam version got changed (or maybe they were always wrong?). Either way, I updated the offsets and tested them and it appears to work now. Try it out and let me know. :)

The latest version doesn't appear to work with Call of Duty 4 1.7 (Retail). Pressing the hotkey does nothing, even though the widescreen fixer says the fix is active. :(

Edit: The old version 1.46.0 still works.

Which version of the DLL are you using?

You can find out by right-clicking on the DLL, getting properties, and then going to the detail tab.

Is it v1.0.17.662 or v1.0.23.5797?

The DLL that came with Beta v2.0.19.663, which appears to be version 1.0.17.661

Try the latest DLL from the website. I fixed a v1.7 related offset.

Downloaded the latest DLL from the website:

Widescreen Fixer version: v2.0.19.633
DLL Version: 1.0.20.6204

Still has absolutely no effect on Call of Duty 4

Edit: Using the "(Steam)" option in Widescreen Fixer instead of the "(Retail)" option actually works. The FOV is correctly adjusted and the HUD is correctly centered, but the main menu is off-center. I'm not using a Steam version of the game, I'm using a completely legitimate Retail version. Did the labels get swapped on the two options in Widescreen Fixer or something?

It's possible. I'll double-check again. CoD4 is a little awkward in that the Steam versions and Retail versions differ sometimes. I can't quite figure it out. I used to label them "Alt. 1" and "Alt. 2" or something along those lines. After some messing around and verifications by people, I thought I had finally figured out which was which, but apparently that's still not the case. In the next version I may just eventually rename them to something else. So if one doesn't work you can always try the other and it's not as misleading. Thanks for letting me know.

Is the Cod MW2 tripple head fix banable?

It's a bannable offense no matter what. The fixer modifies game memory. There's always the possibility of getting banned by using it. I've tried to collaborate with various developers, publishers, and anti-cheat makers to figure out the best way to handle the fix without it triggering a kick or ban. There have been one or two versions of my fixer in the past that triggered a kick. No matter what there is always a risk.

However, people have been using it for quite a long time, including myself, and I don't think anyone has been banned because of it.

any chance of adding BioShock 2?

BioShock 2 doesn't need fixed, just like BioShock v1.1 (first game) doesn't need fixed. :)

Also Im getting error when tryin to download from http://www.widescreenfixer.org/

What program is that with? That doesn't look like a browser download error.

Was a Internet Download Manager problem (I think) :?
Fixed now.
Also it works great for MW2 :)
The ingame resolution is spot on.
Only the menu screen is stretched and lobby buttons are a bit off when trying to click them.

Is there a way to run it @3600x1920 portrait mode?

In future versions, yes. I plan to add the ability to specify your own resolution or aspect-ratio.
