Hi folks,

First of all, thanks Hayden for this amazing tool, really nice to be able to correct the devs' mistakes or omissions and not being forced to upgrade hardware uselessly. I have my Hyundai L90D+ 5:4 monitor for 5 years, and don't want to change it for one of those longer monitors for the moment.

Which brings me to my problem. I just downloaded TW2 and the fix doesn't work for me. I'm on Windows 7, GOG version of the game (with 1.2 patch), I downloaded the fix, runned it as admin, set all things correctly, as far as I can tell, started the game from the .exe and I still have those horizontal black bars which eat up almost a third of my screen.

Here is what the fix says when I run the game:

"Game Detected: True
Detected Resolution: 160 x 27
Original Aspect: 1.7778
New Aspect: 5.9259"

What I have ticked is remove horizontal black bars, vertical black bars and stretch HUD vertically. And yes, the fix in enabled, and it still doesn't change a thing whether I run it or not as I play. My GPU is a Radeon 6850, if that's of any use.

Thanks for your help guys, I hope I'm not just doing something blatantly stupid that prevents the fix from working.

Patch 1.3 changelog:
Patch 1.3 Corrections/Amendments

1. New FREE DLC – “A Sackful of Fluff” is a new quest in Chapter 2 of the game. To start the quest, visit the eccentric Elthon, who inhabits a solitary hut near the quarry outside Vergen. The quest will prove most rewarding to those who demonstrate patience.
2. Game now supports 4:3, 5:4, 16:10 aspect ratios.
3. Item storage has been added. Players can now store items from their Inventory at inns. To leave items in storage or collect previously stored items, talk to innkeepers.
4. A ‘Junk’ panel has been added to Inventory to provide greater clarity in item classification.
5. New menu option added in ‘Extras’ - enables players to view in-game animated sequences (flashbacks, memory flashes, dreams stolen by harpies) outside of the game.
6. A ‘Quickload’ option has been added under the F9 key.
7. The game's HUD can now be hidden in order to produce HUD-free screenshots! On newly installed game copies, the option to hide/show the HUD is available by default under the 'H' key. Users who have modified the key assignments on their installations should go to the 'Input Settings' dialogue of the Witcher 2 Configuration Tool to assign a key to this option. Please note that the game cannot be played with the HUD hidden.
8. Issue involving the game not running at 2560x1440 resolution has been resolved.
9. Issues with nVidia 3D Vision technology have been resolved. Players no longer need to uninstall the related drivers.

10. Key bindings have been corrected to enable configuration of mouse buttons for use by left-handed players.
11. Assorted key binding options have been added to facilitate configuration of controls and quick access to various in-game panels.
12. Issue related to game settings being reset to defaults upon patch installation has been resolved. Patches no longer reset game settings.
13. The configuration file is no longer over-written when the launcher/configuration tool is patched and over-written.
14. The launcher now closes while the game is being patched, thus eliminating the resulting game patching error.
15. The launcher now closes completely and no longer continues to operate in the background.
16. ‘Installed game version is invalid or incomplete’ error in updater when free space on system drive is insufficient – message has been corrected to reflect more accurately the nature of the error.
17. Mutagens are now alchemy ingredients. Minor mutagens drop more frequently than do major mutagens, though the overall mutagen drop rate has been reduced.
18. Corrections have been made in the mutagen drop rate and in Thorak’s store.
19. ‘Dragon’ section of Prologue does not become available until after all assault-related sections have been completed, thereby softening the difficulty curve at the start of the game.
20. During the fight against the kayran, when the bridge collapses, a map pin appears at the end of the bridge to facilitate player navigation and quest completion.
21. Map pins have been corrected in many quests.
22. Quen Sign slightly de-buffed – Sign dissipates 20% faster after foes land a blow. Assorted minor balance issues related to this Sign have also been resolved.
23. Issue with Dragon’s Dream bombs has been resolved. Damage to bosses from cast daggers has been reduced by one-half.
24. Several optimization improvements have been made in the tavern in Vergen.
25. Problem with music accompanying ‘stealth’ sequences has been resolved.
26. Issue related to arm wrestling Bart Bargee has been resolved. Players can no longer win coin from this character endlessly.
27. Option to fist fight woman praying at a statue in Vergen has been deactivated.
28. Mini-game contestants at one of the in-game taverns now switch positions correctly without blocking one another.
29. Problem involving Fenn’s sword in combat has been resolved.
30. Problems with herbalist’s gloves have been resolved.
31. In the Prologue, Geralt retains his steel long sword throughout, i.e., he is no longer automatically equipped with his default sword for the ‘Assault’ sequence.
32. Problem with some nekkers being immortal has been resolved.
33. Issue with triggered black screens blocking game progress has been resolved.
34. Interactions no longer appear on nekker nests after these have been destroyed.
35. The “Scent of Incense” quest no longer shows up as failed after being completed successfully.
36. Sudden switch to gameplay just prior to cut scene involving Cynthia and Philippa has been eliminated.
37. Triss, Roche and Iorveth are now de-spawned before the final credits roll.
38. Guard pacing cycles have been corrected.
39. The Redanian messenger in Henselt’s tent can no longer be killed, preventing him from re-spawning.
40. Elf woman in Vergen no longer strikes a T-pose.
41. Rotfiends feeding on corpses no longer re-spawn after corpse is burned.
42. Several fixes have been made in the functioning of in-game populaces.
43. Numerous problems with cameras in dialogue sequences have been resolved.
44. Assorted corrections have been made in dialogue sequences (including King Foltest’s gestures on the town walls in the Prologue).
45. A progression break in the ‘In the Claws of Madness’ quest has been eliminated.

Did they fix the Nvidia-only surround support? Does it work with AMD cards now?

Post by Olstyle »

There is nothing about Surroundgaming in there.
2560x1440 is an aspect ratio of 16:9 and Nvidia 3D Vision is a whole different thing then Nvidia Vision Surround(but they can be combined to 3D Vsion Surround).

But the patch isn`t out yet, so maybe we will get lucky none the less.

I must admit that we bloody morons do everything what is possible to fix it;-)
But I'm afraid that more on that can be done by other group of bloody morons, responsible for introducing 3D tech to our game.

Already progress has been made. 3D Vision doesn't need to be turned off and it doesn't cause drop in performance.

Hope more too come,
Michal The Bloody;)
PS. Don't forget not to turn on uber sampling, cause otherwise you'll really need rig from outer space;-)

So... Patch 1.3 has been released. No Eyefinity support. The Configuration tool doesn't even list Eyefinity resolutions any more...

Luckily, you still can set the resolution in the users.ini.

Once again, Hayden is the only way to get it Triple-Head for us...

Post by newparad1gm »

I'm running the retail version of Witcher 2 and just manually installed Patch 1.3 last night. I'm running NVIDIA 3D Surround, and 5760x1080 shows up fine for me in the options. I'm also NOT using Hayden's flawless widescreen fixer, as running the fixer for me would leave 3DVision enabled even after I quit the game, forcing a restart of the computer to disable the glasses and emitter. The patch also seems to have removed the white dots on the right side of the screen, so now I can run the game without having to use the no-HUD mod, and all the HUD elements are centered. As far as I'm concerned this patch has nearly eliminated all problems with playing in triple wide resolutions. (the cutscenes still cut off the side monitors and just play on the center monitor, but I can live with that as the triple wide cutscenes from when I did run Hayden's fix were sometimes glitchy for me). Sad that it took this long for things to get sorted out, but at least I can get into this game fully now.

I'll post a screenshot when I get home tonight. I'm also running 270.61 drivers as I found the 275s a bad set of drivers, with monitors desyncing in 3D vision and various games having anomalies and glitches.

I'm also not getting any 3D Vision anomalies as far as I recall. I'll post a JPS 3D Vision screenshot when I get the chance.

it would have been cool, but using the older driver does not help, still shadows run amok :(

3D Vision was tested like every other change and it works without any issue. If you have any problems with it please contact our technical support.

Yup, I spoke too soon. I only tested it in 3D for like 2 minutes last night, and it was during the rain in an area without shadows. When it became sunny and shadows came out again, I noticed all the shadows being out of whack. I'll just post a pic of 2D Surround working then.

This is running a retail copy of Witcher 2 1.3 without Hayden's fix. Surround resolution being detected fine, HUD centered, and no row of white dots on the right. Now crossing my fingers for a 3D Vision fix.

Since Hayden did not yet updated it the fix is useless when using patch 1.3 anyway.

well, I noticed that your pic is 5040x1050, which is a 3x16:10 aspect ratio right? I'm at 5760x1080, which is 3x16:9. So its very likely that they just removed the black bars for the single monitor 4:3 and 16:10 resolutions, and didn't bother with the triple wides.

Exactly!!! the 16:10 and 4:3 fixes work only on 1 screen! but hey...they fixed it.... =))

Thanks to all for the screenshot! So far not a positive result found... had hoped somebody discovered a way to fix the shadows or was something on our machines...looks like CDPRJ did it again:))
