could you point to the EXACT driver, there's like 20 - and the 190.56 is "windows XP 64" - is that the one?

God, after 4 hours of dicking about I'll kill someone if I do this again and it fails.

Please tell me you're on w7 x64 before I start!

I have noticed it doesn't always come on - I set it in the driver , pick the executable and pump in the settings - I always turn VSYNC on for the good it does.

Hmm, ok , I was previously unable to find the correct driver and tried a tweak one - I'll give it a go later.

the only 190.56 i can find at guru3d is for win xp, and will not install.

I'm getting so sick of the whole thing, it all works without fuss on 182.5 so i'll stick to that!

Well, it's expected to on XP - Matrox even officially support that, so it's not news.

Nothing past 182.5 on Vista is supported

Windows 7 is not at all supported (although 182.5 worked for me on W7x64)

Anything newer than those on a relevant OS/ is good to know.

ok i think i got problem solved ,but im not shure how
its just working for me

method 1

1 first make setup ass NZCoyote told ya 1 side back
2your screans should turn of in error -blank
3 take out your main dvi-d cabel from matrox
4 disconect Usb for 5- 10 sek

5put back USB wait untill it blinks
6 put back dvi-d cabel

7 screan should apear! , we are not finish !
8 go to powerdesk setup, you should have now visible 5040x1050 option setup now .. triple ,> 5040x1050 ,55, 56,57 Hz whatever Hz you have aplly restart and it should be working

method 2
setup every think as on this image

next
repeat every step as in method above

whole idea is to restart TH2go in right moment -i mean when you have blank scream from error

I've just recently formated/installed today and ran in to some problems using various drivers such as 182.50 and 190.62 where neither would work properly when being setup through the GXM, and my monitors would display the OCD telling me the res wasn't supported.

So I tried the v191.03 which works well for me under Windows 7 x64 with the latest Matrox GXM software (2.05.00.020). No problems installing at all.

So it appears there's still no consensus as to what definitely does or does not work... There even seems to be differences between Vista & 7, and among users of each OS... What a mess. At least some of us have found a way to get 5040x1050 working on their GT200s - enjoy ! Hopefully the next driver release will not ruin your efforts. :?

All I know is that neither the new firmware, new nvidia drivers (190.56, 190.57, 191.03), new GXM or the various tips posted here and there were of any help to me. To get 5040x1050 working in Vista I *still* need the "old beta" GXM and the 182.50 nv drivers. Guess migrating to 7 is the next smart thing to try.

Yah, I couldn't get Crysis running in DX10 with my GTX280 under win7 x64 with the older drivers, haven't tried with 191.03 though.

On that note, prior to formatting, the 182.5 drivers worked for me, so *shrug*, I don't know.

Playing Aion and Majesty 2 at the moment, and both runs as I'd expect any game to.

Well, it looks like I got 5040X1050 to work with 190.56 and the latest PowerDesk on Win7. However, my games aren't recognizing the resolution. The highest they detect is still 3840x1024.

Did I miss a step somewhere for games to detect the new resolution?

Which games ? DX 10 ?
There shouldn't be anything you need to do for 5040 to be available in games if your desktop works at that res.

Well, that didn't last. A couple restarts later and I'm back to 3840x1024 and no sign of my Added Resolution.

I followed the guidelines to prevent PowerDesk from removing it, but it doesn't look like it worked.

It's not a monitor issue because I can add the 5040x1050 resolution at 57hz and it changes just fine and lasts all day. Games won't pick it up though.

Well I have got myself a copy of Win7 Pro, and no joy on all the things here. Tried about 5 different drivers, 3 GXMs and 2 different firmwares!
When I hit test, no matter what I have tried, it says '5040x1050 is not supported by your display' and that is it.
Ah well back to XP then :(
