For some reason I can't get the beta to work properly on my XP system. It seems to open very briefly and minimize to the taskbar. If I mouse over the taskbar icon, it disappears. It loads up on another system I have with no issues (Vista 32bit). Anything I should try to troubleshoot the issue Dopefish?

I'm not sure. I don't have XP on any system here.

It uses .NET Framework v3.5. Make sure you have that. I didn't build with any specific OS restrictions or anything.

Does anyone else here use it on XP?

That was it. :)

I only had .net 3.0

Up and running. I wish other software developers were half as responsive as you Dopefish.

Thanks.

Hmm. I thought I fixed the crash that happens when no game DLL is present. I'll look into that again.

Hey , I notice on this beta that the update rate is default to 250 don't I remember it being at 500 before , and anyway what is that exactly again. I cant seem to find where it was that it was explained in detail ?

I had a hell of a time getting that net framework 3.5 installed . it kepted giving me an message that it was incomplete. I still don't see it listed in "add or remove programs" although I see it in "turn windows features on and off"

The Beta seemed to work, I did have to hit the hot key again after moving on to another level though ?

I said in another post somewhere that the update rate is only used for BF2/2142 and UT3. That slider actually does nothing for any other game. In a future version, I will disable the slider if a game is chosen that doesn't need it (I may actually have it hide the slider entirely).

Odd. If v3.5 doesn't come with Windows 7, it should at least get installed via Windows Update. And even then, all you need to do is just download and install it. I'm not sure why it would error out. The one I linked to on my page is the web installer version, you can download the full installer here.

You might need to enable it when moving to a new level. I hadn't tested it moving between levels in SP. You don't have to keep re-enabling it in MP, though. I made a note of this and will fix it in a later release.

I know, I thought that odd also. I seen in add and remove programs . net Framework 1.1. And I thought to myself.... why is that version in windows 7? The first place I went to was to the list of recent updates in windows Updates. and I didn't see any net framework updates that had been downloaded or nothing that that was sitting in Que waiting to be downloaded. I have auto update Enabled??

I do see the folders and files for all the versions all the way up to version 3.5 net framework In the windows folder though . and everything work fine. so I guess it all good.

thanks for the help

It's a good idea to keep v1.1 around (and all the others).

Each .NET version is standalone. You basically need all versions of the frameworks for the most software compatibility. Software compiled for .NET framework v1.1 will not work if you only have v3.5 installed. Likewise (in the future), v3.5 software will not work if you only have v4.0 of the framework installed.

I have v1.1, v2.0, v3.0, and v3.5 installed.

I had the same problem, if you are in windows 7 the NET 3.5 installer will always error out, if you check the logs it says that it should be enabled under Programs and Features, even if it Fails, it is indeed installed, just make sure it is ticked under Programs and Features.

If you are not sure, check this article about checking the .NET frameworks you have installed: http://www.walkernews.net/2008/05/16/how-to-check-net-framework-version-installed/

Hey Dopefish
Any updates in work for MW2? It appears that they did another update and now it is at 1.0.177. It appears that the fixer is not being recognized again.

Well... with the beta version of Widescreen Fixer, I have to say that the modular design is paying off already. If it were the old version of Widescreen Fixer, I would have had to release two whole new versions of the application itself just for one game change. Now I simply open the project file for a specific game, add code for the new version, compile, and upload.
