Then just buy the card from the Dell online store? I have no real brand loyalty when it comes to ATI cards, so I'll get it where I can find it I guess. :wink:I reckon they'll be in their machines not available as an individual purchase.... here in NZ Dell doesn't sell components

Jeez...
"our sauces"... yeesh, copy-proofing has really slipped in the digital age. "Our sources", it should be. Unless they're talking about making food! They can get it right when talking about Half-Life!
*is now very tempted to Photoshop up a "Half-Life Sauce" bottle...*
I don't know why they're surprised. Any promising looking high-end kit has always been this way. The 9800Pro had shortages early after it's release, the X800 series the same, the X1800's weren't so bad, but they were really delayed. nVidia had similar shortages in the 7800's and 8800's IIRC (although with the 8800's it wasn't very marked...)

lol about the sauce ... I despise websites who don't even double check what they write :?
on the shortage matter, I'll say it depends on where & when & which
where => depending on location availability can be greatly different
which => the first 8800GTX was quite difficult to get
when => the first 8800GTX was quite difficult to get for the first few month
there was even very high prices on ebay & the like (like 900$ or more...)

I don't think there are THAT many people eagerly waiting and drooling over the 58xx cards.
on another pc/hardware/game fourm I'm in there's really not much mention or excitement over the new ATI cards.
we are triplehead gamers and this eyefinity is a major draw for us.
but out side of this niche here I don't think there are too many people gooing gaga over it. it's more like regular interest compared to other new card releases

So far I've only seen ZipZoomFly taking preorders for the 5870 and 5850 for $400 and $300. Both have the standard 2 dvi, 1 hdmi 1 dp port out configuration. Not seen anyone list the "Six" card yet. Wonder what the premium is going to be on the "Six".

Looks like the links were yanked a few hours ago. My guess is it'll be back up in a few hours once the NDA is lifted. Putting 5870 or 5850 into the ZipZoomFly search box will bring up the old link info, but not the page.

What time is the NDA lifted? It is almost 1030am here in NZ, I assumed it would lift over night and leave me heaps of reading to do this morning....

it gets beaten by gtx295 in heaps of tests!

I think that's why not THAT much people outside of tripleheaders want to get it or over excited about it.
but for me the 5870 at
$372.40 (asumming no shipping charges and with Bing cashback).
is not bad
it is still a faster card than the 9800gx2 and most importantly I can get 1920x1200x3 in games (assumming it works like it should)
it should make my system less hot since i replace a X2 card and allow me to remove my other video card and still have triplehead + 3 monitor independant support
In short for $373 I get the following benefit:
1- better performance
2- less power draw
3- less heat in my system
4- frees up my pciex1 and by allowing me to remove my secondary videocard
5- frees up a USB port used by the Th2g (now I don't have to have a usb hub just because I am just short of one usb port)
6- 1920x1200x3 support in games
7- I don't have to manually flip between DVI and HDMI input buttons on my monitors to switch from single large monitor mode (th2g) to 3 independant monitor mode.
and after selling my 9800GX2 and Th2go I don't really have to pay anything for it. and now I also got a spare FireMV video card (4 dvi monitor support) and a usb hub.
I'm waiting all night for this if I have to. I'm just refreshing the page in hopes of being able to order.
I already sold my Th2g for $255 and extracted + listed my 9800gx2 on ebay a few days ago (auction ends on sunday)

yeh I sold everything as well for good prices :)
but i'm gonna hold off for a while as there as pretty much 0 new games which require such power.
Sure replaying some old games at 1920x1200x3 will be awesome but i seriously don't have the time as I just bought a new elite + ps3 slim + g25 wooooooot!
