Uhm, you say that the fov is correct, but i have a bad feeling on my native res 1680x1050 (wide Samsung 22")

It seem like my soldier do not move smootly like was when i was using Widescreen fixer, and yes i 'm using the command line
"bf2142.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen 1"

But i do not feel that is the right way of play.

Well i cannot proof that with screen for now, because i'll have to reinstall another copy of battlefield 1.40 :(

And.. oh well there is one definitive reason that push me to write here to ask you to update :)

The fact is that with your software i can manage to play greatly also with non widescreen resolution like 1028x768 on my widescreen monitor.

In 1024x768 +Widescreen fixer, the game runs great and i can manage to reach higher FPS witout lower details.

In 1680x1050 , native res of my monitor, FPS drops badly and i have to lower the details.

That's why your software is SUPERB :) and we all beg to you to update it :)

Well, I will be updating it, but let me take this time to provide screenshots of what I mean.

Here's two images that are how BF2142 behaved prior to v1.5.

If you look at these two, you'll notice that you lose vertical and horizontal view area.

As you can see, it scales horizontally with no loss of visual viewing area.

Now, these are just screenshots. They do not show movement or anything about how smooth you might move or zoom in.

But, don't worry, I'll be working on it very soon. :)

v1.50 Support Added

Sorry for the long delay in release. I had reinstalled Windows, moved my website around, and I was basically just heavily preoccupied with everything for awhile. Now that things have settled down, I had a chance to work on this and get it out.

Do not use +widescreen 1 if you intend to use this. Just use +szx and +szy to set your widescreen resolution, and then use this fix. The newer method is not implemented yet (I don't think it was PB-safe anyway, so there's no rush). I renamed the old method to "Safe" method for less confusion.

* Added support for Call of Duty 4 v1.7 MP.
* Call of Duty 4 v1.7 SP didn't change for the version you buy on Steam.
* Added support for retail (boxed version) Call of Duty 4 v1.7 SP. If one option doesn't work for you, try the other.

Long overdue post here. Just wanted to drop you a line, dopefish, and says thanks for your awesome tool. I've only used it with BF2, but it works great.

How in the world do you do what you? I'm no programmer or developer, but I find it fascinating that you can produce a simple tool that modifies a game's FOV on the fly. Would you be interested in sharing a brief summary of your method, in layman's terms, of course. ;)

One more thing: why in the world hasn't a studio hired guys like you and Racer_S to implement proper widescreen support in their games?

I don't think there's any way I could possibly explain how it works in layman's terms. :) It's very... complicated. I guess a way to explain how it works is that when you start up a game, it loads itself into memory. I simply modify the memory that's in use. There's a lot more to it than that and it's not just a simple modification; I actually write some of my own code into memory.

As for working for a game company, I'm open to anything. ;) I've never applied anywhere, but if a good offer shows up, who knows.

* I have not had EB test this version. Use at your own risk.
* Added a Hotkeys.txt which will help you reassign the key.
* Added 3 x 16:10 to the list. (3 x 16:10 and higher WILL need tested.)

Ive installed vista64 and cant find wsf.ini

I cant therefore modify my hotkey because my keyboard is spanish and has a different layout.

yes, BF2142 1.5 accept widescreens, just editing the BF2142 shortcut:
add: +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1080

nothing else to do, and it works fine!

Yes, the image will be expanded, not cropped.

By "3x " he means having the game support resolutions with three monitors running off of a Matrox Triplehead2Go.
