By the way, the Extremetech review does show some decent graphs highlighting (more of what I expected) as the resolution increases and image complexity increases (AA, tesselation, etc...) the added memory plays a more crucial role, albeit small increases...

your not going to see any improvement unless all the memory i getting used up... most of these reviews are 5760 x 1080.. 5760 x 1200 will actually use alot more memory, so that is one thing.. the other is the game itself as games use more and more memory you'll want 2 GB.. and yes it can make a huge diff in some circumstances such as

Infinite % increase in performance!!!

Hahaha!!!

This is more of what I was thinking and this is just 2560x1600 ;)

Thanks for the update Lbrin...I hear ya about the day job thing - - they tend to get in the way of my fun, but hey they also pay for my fun

Exactly. As a friend would say, "My job supports my other bad habits." Couldn't quite get it all wrapped up tonight., the rest of real life got in the way as well.

Got all the intro pages written and proofed (wife is a great editor), and all the graphs made. Need to put together screenshots, finalize all my conclusions and then dump it all in the Wiki.

This will be our first multi-page review, and I'm guessing about 20 pages total. We'll have a nav list so you can skip past individual benchmarks that don't interest you. Looking forward to seeing everyone's feedback on it.

So, I received the E6 card yesterday and thought I would verify that the MiniDP-to-DVI dongles were indeed passive. And indeed they are ;) The Dell 30" would only do 1920x1200 and the Apple 30" would only do 1280x800. Picked up another DisplayPort cable to connect the 2nd Dell 30" and picked up a MiniDP-to-DL-DVI adapter from the Apple Store and now everything works as it should.

While trolling MonoPrice, I noticed that they actually sell very inexpensive direct DP-to-MiniDP cables in case you:
a) don't already have DP cables
b) don't want to use the MiniDP-to-DP dongle

They sell them in white, too, if you want to add some contrast to your black cabling.

Didn't have time to put the E6 through the gaming paces, though. Will do that this evening :D

Have you upgraded your card yet? Everything working as you would expect?

I've been having problems with the E6 not detecting my 30" displays correctly. When I go to create an Eyefinity group, for some reason, the displays all sync incorrectly and default to 640x480.

They ONLY sell them in white. I've been looking for black mini displayport --> displayport cables and have only found white ones...no black!

Hopefully I should have one card arriving tomorrow and another early next week.
Not sure if I want to keep the 2nd one but I might have to try CF just because...

My setup will be 3 - U2410's so I won't be able to check the sync issue on the 30's you are having.

Could these ideally be tri-fired with a 4gb 5970? :?:

I fixed my sync issues... and it turned out to be the MiniDP-to-DL-DVI dongle that I'm connecting to my 30" Apple Cinema Display. The Dell MiniDP-to-DP dongles worked out OK. I had to experiment with which MiniDP output would sync w/ the DVI correctly ... and it ended up being the output 3rd from the bottom of the card, or the #3 output since the driver seems to enumerate the outputs starting from the top of the card and number #0 - #5.

Hello guys,

i read some very informative reviews on this site/thread! I just have one more question:

I want to use Eyefinity6 in a different setup than a gaming setup. I'm aiming at a 6x1 landscape setup for a multimedia project i'm working on. It looks like this:

link

I did this with two matrox TH2GO DVI edition driving 6 screens each with 1680x1050 which makes one big windows desktop of 10.080 on 1050 pixels (windows xp). However I would like to use ATI's bezel compensation (Matrox bezel management seems to cut away pixels).

To compensate for the OpenGL max of 8192 pixels we're gonna make two windows and use offset to place them neatley next to each other...

So my question: does the Eyefinity6 supports 6x1 in lanscape mode?

tnx duniek for the answer,

i have another question now:

would somebody be so kind to run GPU_caps on an Eyefinity6 card (http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu_caps_viewer/) and save me a list of available supported OpenGL extensions on this card? I need to know this before buying to make sure it suits my project.

This would really help me out!

Tnx in advance...

The OGL 4.0 extensions support for The Eyefinity 6 edition will be same as the rest of the HD 5000 series. Geeks3D posted this list from the initial preview drivers:

http://www.geeks3d.com/20100326/ati-catalyst-10-3-opengl-4-0-driver-20-new-opengl-extensions/

However the best supporting driver for the Eyefinity 6 Edition (Catalyst 10.3b) currently does not feature OpenGL4.0 and we will still be a little way off from fully unifying the branches into the main Catalyst release.

Dave, give the guys at ATI a thanks from another satisfied customer! Absolutely love the E6! Worked right out of the box like I thought.
