From another thread I started.

Had to restore my PC. Was using WSF and it worked well. Downloaded the latest version as of today, and nothing happens when I ctrl*, except to crouch. Still short fat soldiers. COD MW3 is there with all the versions for sp but I have no idea which version I have. It reads that the game is running but the fix enabled is NO. 3 dispay count @ 6048x1080, aspect ratio is N/A HUD Lift pos is 1 and right position 0.

Everything required to download from MS is done. Help would be appreciated as I had this working with an earlier version.

Are you using a cracked version of the game? Widescreen Fixer does not work with cracked .exe files.

Can you look in Event Viewer for the crash? It would be under Windows Logs -> Application. Look for an "Application Error" or ".NET Runtime" error. PM me what you found. I suspect it's because I removed the .config file from Widescreen Fixer in r366. I thought changing Assembly.LoadFile() to Assembly.UnsafeLoadFrom() would fix the issue and bypass needing the .config file.

I also updated the plugin for v1.1.4. I'm going to re-upload the file with the .config file included again.

Looks like a corrupted config

Looks like a corrupted config file.

Open Explorer and then in the address bar type in "%localappdata%" (without the quotes) and then find and delete the folder called "David_Rudie"

Sorry for all the posts. I have the fix enabled "YES" going now but hitting the asterik and is not changing the short fat soldiers yet. I will put the PC to sleep but not turn the WSGfixer or the game OFF. Hopefully someone will have the solution for me tomorrow! :onethumb H) :TrueWS :WWTH2Go :twothumb

BTW, that corrupt file to delete pops into the local data apps folder frequently :D

Similar running issue

Hey Dopefish. I also am having issues with the gui to start in v3.1. I have had the same problems with all the v3x versions. I saw one of your suggestions about moving the plugins out so I tried that and then, the gui will start but obviously there are no games to select. I tried to put a few of the plugins in one at time but each time the gui would not load. It would show the same type of issues mentioned. It would appear in the Processes for a short time and then the program would close. The last version I have running successfully is 2.3.59. I am trying to use it with the COD programs. Windows Home 64 bit. ATI 5800. 3x22 monitors. I have been running on the other version with 5040x1050.

Thoughts? Thanks

UPDATE: Dopefish, not sure if this will help. I did try to download the r369 and still the app starts and stops. The application log shows:
Faulting application name: Widescreen Fixer.exe, version: 3.1.365.0, time stamp: 0x4f457300
Faulting module name: Unmanaged.DetectDisplays64.dll, version: 2.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f4572dc

Hi Dopefish,

First, I would like to say thank you very much for your product; I love it as it has single handedly allowed me to enjoy multi monitor gaming for years. Before this, I used it for FPS's exclusively, but now am trying to use it for SWTOR. I downloaded your latest version tonight and it crashes every time I launch it between 5-10 seconds. I deleted your directory under localappdata with no success.

Here is my application event log:

AW, get into a match and, without enabling the fix, look at Widescreen Fixer. If any of the values say N/A then something isn't right with your game. Double-check your game version and make sure it's set right.

tealc, Interesting crash. That's the first time I've seen any crash related to the unmanaged libraries. Can you email me a copy of your dxdiag?

woke up this morning and everything in the fixer was proper. Pressed the * button down for several seconds and nothing. Turned off fixer, turned off game, turned on fixer and not working again. Altho I do not know how to determine the game version, the only setting that I do not get any N/As is 1.5.387 sp altho the left hud value is at 0.

Is there any way that I can get the wsgf version from last fall that did work. I know you keep updating the program but that one worked for me, say, September/October time frame, whichever version that was. I remember downloading and version in December and it did not work for me so I reverted back to the early one. Also, there was another file that I downloaded from you that contained on three files in it, cannot remember what they were, but I had that floating in my system as well.

This is effin weird.

This is effin weird. Continuing my saga, again, for the umteenth time, I closed off all programs, restarted wsgf, deleted the davidR file, launched COD MW3, tapped for a brief second the * key, and it works. I am not cheering yet cause I am sure if I shut everything down and restart, it will not work again.
