Thank you very much dopefish.

Then it's only the question of fixing the fov and why did iw have to be such a bunch of donkeys?
I mean come on at least allow it in sp.

Just some answers:
1. Steam & retail exactly the same, buying the DVD version just aves your DL limit.
2. You can install Steam games on as many of your PCs as you want. There are even games that have Steam Cloud, holding all your settings and save games online so you don't even need to transfer those (L4D2).
3. A VAC ban will, from my research, only ban you from the actual game so you won't lose the rest of your Steam games... this is not definite but I am pretty sure.
I used it all last night with no errors/bans/spankings from VAC (although I bloody tried the SP and I get a crash every 20 mins or so Grrrrrr; nothing to do with the fixer, the SP is just unstable on my PC... the only thing)
1. There is no download limits on steam, I could download and delete a game 50 times a week and I would be fine :D That's why steam is the digital download platform of my choice.
2. Yep; so you can install the game on as many PC's as you want, you just have to log into the steam account that has a copy of that game on it.
3. The only games to use VAC aside from MW2 AFAIK are valves games. If you get banned in a Source game, you're banned in all source games. If you get banned in a GoldSrc game you're banned in all goldsrc games. Judging from that you probably wont get your other games banned but still, that banned MW2 will forever be on your account and your profile will say "VAC bans on record"
why did iw have to be such a bunch of donkeys?
I was wondering this maybe dopefish can provide some insight.
Why do they have a separate cvar for aspect ratio? Can't they just divide the aspect ratio to get it, and then it would always be correct and one less thing for users to fuck around with? And do you have any idea on how the math might look for the fov function?

1. There is no download limits on steam, I could download and delete a game 50 times a week and I would be fine :D That's why steam is the digital download platform of my choice....I meant your personal ISP DL limit, mine is 10GB, and I pay 12$NZ for each 10GB I go over, so the price of DLing Steam games goes into my money calcs ;)

I got myself true unlimited here :)
Think this is the last or one of the last UK companies to do so. Most have hidden changes recently :/

ADSL2+ is rolling out now, thankfully, and the packages are changing..I'll be upto 30GB soon, for the same price ;)

Thanks, dopefish, your fix works like a charm.
But dam, I was able to play only one chapter. When I tried to play next, the game crashed right at the start of the loader screen with status bar. Someunknown DX error. Seems that everything is ok, when a blank black screen is shown while loading, and crash when an intro is shown while loading.
Anyone has such a problem? I am using SoftTH

I have had awful problems with the SP mode only...played MP for hours with no probs. I have actually taken my 2nd card out and that seems to be getting me further, though I haven't had a chance to fully test. Will do that this evening.

I am finding that in CoD MW2, my best resolution is 4098x768 for 3 21.5" monitors with TH2GO. I have been playing with the tool to try different aspect ratios, but haven't been able to figure out what will give it that non-stretched appearance. Other resolutions I have have available:
3072x768 (works alright)
3840x1024 (looks the best, but leaves large black areas in between the monitors)
4320x900 (very stretched)
5040x1050 (off centered)
Any help would be greatly appreciated as far as what number I should type in with what resolution to get it to look normal!

Not the only thing over there that is delivered by a sheep...I hear that the pron is all sheep based over there as well. It also correlates with NZ not needing to have any "red light houses", just sheds with sheep, large gum boots, velcro gloves, a bit of hay and a coin slot.

Played a good few hours online using the fix again tonight works a treat and not been banned yet :D
call of duty: modern warfare 2
I played an hour or so without the fixer and had a decent time.
It's not as bad as everyone made it out to be.
The match-making system works fine, and the party and invite system are pretty cool when you want to play with friends.
If you think about it, MW1 had a broken server browser that never worked right. "13000 servers found, displaying a random batch of 33 of those servers for no reason."
It brought back the Quake days when my friends and I would connect to servers by passing around IP addresses instead of saying "I'm on so-and-so server; come join!"
Instead, the conversation would go as:
A: "I'm on so-and-so server; come play!"
B: "I don't see it. What's the name again?"
A: "so-and-so"
B: "No, it's not there. What's the IP?"
A: "Hang on, let me kill this person and get to a safe spot."
*delay*
A: "Ok"
*drop console, find IP*
A: "The IP is 123.12.23.45"
B: "What was that number again?"
A: "45"
B: "It didn't work."
A: "Oh, I see, it has a different port, use 12345"
B: "Ok, that worked, let's get it on!"
Now, with match-making:
*click invite*
*select friends*
*click Find game*
*wait for other slots to fill up*
*play*
Aside from that... yeah, I miss lean, but the more I play the more I get used to it. It's alright because no one else has lean, either, so there's no advantage/disadvantage. Other than that, MP does feel a bit choppy/stutterty/laggy at times. Just running forward or moving around often doesn't feel as smooth as it did in MW1, but it's not so bad that you can't play. It's probably something you'll get used to later, or have the problem go away with a different set of people.
I do like the awards, accolades, challenges, weapons, attachments, etc.

yeah I see it can be very efficient at a couple of things.
but a server based system could have kind of the same features, you'd just need a couple of "server supervisors" where individual servers would register, and the server supervisor would pass requests such as invites & player transfers ...
of course it would need to be thought of in more details than the scope of this short simple post but it's doable.
As I see it, you have to "get used" to this system flaws, and I don't like that very much.

talk about fail comparison..
in MW1... server list comes up, you filter by ping, gamemode etc... etc... can save favourites and so fourth...
What is wrong with that?
Why couldn't they just add a "quick match" button for noobs...?
Instead of "match making" and dropping dedicated servers....
Also with steam integration... they could have made it possible to simply go "join game" on your steam friends list rather than introduce IW.net
