1) I might need two of em.
2) it might arrive before the apple adapter
3) it might work better than the apple (less cables)
4) I can always return it if I don't need it

5) I could always sell one of em for cost to a less fortunate WSGF member if there is a huge shortage of these adapters once more 5870s, 5890s, 5870x2s hit the market.
6) when the 5870x2s hit I may sell my 5870 and I could make my auction more desireable by including the adapter in the sale.

This arrived today, thanks a heap, you rock!

Selling my adapter

Hey guys,
I'm not trying to use the site as an eBay/craigslist or anything, but I retired my widescreen setup the other day so I'm selling my displayport to DVI adapter. I just figured that someone on here could make use of it since Dell is apparently taking awhile to get these out. I have the BizLink(Dell) adapter for $85 through Paypal, shipping included, for anyone that wants it. I used it for about a week and decided that the setup just wasn't for me.

Thanks,
Alex

sure wish these things weren't so expensive, specially because it lets you use a feature that's already been paid for...

If anyone wants to sell their adapter let me know.

Placed my order from Dell on Nov 10 for Nov 18th delivery, received a delay notice on the 18th 30th delivery. I decided to make a call and it worked out well. They moved delivery up to the 25th with next day shipping. I received notification that the part will be here tomorrow. Still long time for processing but shows they have the inventory. My advice if you keep getting your date pushed out, give them a call.

@lordgort

Try this Dutch company: http://kabeltje.com/accell-displayport-naar-dvid-dual-link-adapter-25cm-p-1628.html

I could not find it on Dell Germany, which is sad

Good Luck :)

Not seen that! Look different from my Apple mini-DP adaptor. Will def buy it and sell on the Apple if it works without problems ... the Apple works but most of the time when I go from extended desktop to EF or vice versa I have to unplug the USB power and replug it (often it comes up at 1600x1200 or less res)

it can be a problem of cable. on zalman trimon, pin 15 and 16 on the dvi cable must be inverted.
call this problem with your screen manufacturer and maybe they will send to you a new cable.

That Sapphire adapter looks exactly like the Bizlink/Dell adapter. Though if Sapphire sells it, that could mean more retailers will be able to get their hands on it.

Sapphire make all the 'Built By ATi' cards, last time I checked (which was, admittedly, a while ago... I'm sure Dave or Sunspot will correct me if I'm wrong...) so perhaps this is a sign of AMD making inroads on getting DP->DVI adaptors more available within the world markets?
