They've already stated that it will be like this on purpose.
It's a highly competitive game, and they've tweaked the camera to varying degrees between 5:4, 4:3, 16:10, and 16:9. You will see more horizontally, but slightly less vertically in widescreen over 4:3. With 4:3 you will see slightly more vertically, and less horizontally. It's both Hor-/+ and Vert-/+ at the same time for all supported aspect-ratios.
I don't think it's that big a deal. Surround gaming is great for FPS, racing games, and such, where it greatly enhances immersion. I find that with top-down view, it doesn't change much and I'm happy to play on one screen.
