It means that, because CF on a 5970 is a very known hardware set, CF works for EF with the 5970 ONLY. So with my 5970 I get the use of both cards at EF res... otherwise I wouldn't have brought it! Other combos will take more work and testing and drivers will be released when they are ready.

if by 5970x2 you mean 2 5970s in CF-X? That doesn't work, same reason the other cards in CF don't work with EF... there are many variables that have to be tested, as CF is internal on the 5970 they can easily write drivers for it :)

Id be tempted for the upgrade :D but cant afford it right now and most of all its only 2GB of ram for the whole card, thus only 1GB usable RAM with the cards in crossfire.

I think a few of us already think that just a 5870 needs more than 1GB for ultra high res games, a 5970 should really have 2x2GB of VRAM....

Exactly what I am thinking. When some of the graphic cards get reviewed, some of them like a 260 with 896 megs of memory start to run out of memory at 2560x1200 res. I would think that at eyefinity res that 1 gig would start to get filled also. I really want a 5970 but I was hoping for a 2 gig per core card. Now when they come out with the 5870(6) port it will be to slow to handle anything more than 1680x1050 with high quality settings. Need to have the best of both. 2gigs ram AND a 5970.
Make a card like a 5850 with dual core and 2 gig ram per core and call it a 5950. That would be better for eyefinity than anything out right now. I would have no problem paying $700 for a 5970 with 4 gigs total ram. I would pay 600 for a 5950 type card with 4 gigs total ram.

Yeah if a 2x2GB card comes out, I will sell my 5970 and get one. But I am not holding my breath.
