Multi-Projector Gaming?
I know we have this multi-display gaming subforum, but I was curious how many forum members also multi-projector, or even single projector game? There is a whole sub-set of issues with projector gaming that aren't really covered by a subforum here, that might merit it's own subforum if there were enough of us around to make use of it. Just a thought...
I'm curious about everyone's projector and screen types. I'll start off with mine:
Projectors: 3x Optoma EX525ST (3072x768 or 3840x1024)
Video: Tri-SLI GTX260, TH2G Digital
OS: Windows Vista and Windows 7
Utilities: Sol7 Home Sim Edition
Screen: 154" wide x 86" deep x 90" tall half-circle screen
room: 13'x13'x90"

Multi-Projector Gaming?
I use an old projector to game when i have friends over or when i go to my friends house and it's easier to move than a monitor.
Mine is a 800x600 projector.

Good call BHawthorne, all of my efforts are in the project/multi-projector arena. You are a few steps ahead of me with your sol7 multi-beamer setup.
Here's what i'm putting together:
Projectors: 1x Mitsubishi HC4900 1080p, 2x NEC 1024x768
Video: 3-way SLI GTX260, TH2G Digital and a TH2G Analog on standby
Magic: Sol7 Home Sim Edition
OS: Vista 32bit, Win 7 64bit on the way
Screen: 210" wide x 70" high, 146 degree arc. (same as Cinerama)
Screen Materials: 3x super softy shower curtain from JC Penny's!
Room: Garage for now, wife kicked me out of the house :)
Once I get a permanent setup, I'll post my progress. BHawthorne, your setup is coming along nicely by the way!

Where did you get that edition of SOL7? How much did it cost? Does it have edge blending enabled?
I was told that the software with edge blending enabled would cost 4000 per projector.

Multi-Projector Gaming?
I bought an optima projector, the first of three, to go triple screen for my gamin.
It cost about £300 and I am pleased with it.
The resolutions however are only 1024x768 max which after testing I deemed too low res and pixely compared to what I was used too. The images where also quite washed out. Low lumens compared to a screen.
So I never got the other 2 projectors although I still have the budget for them.
I've been keeping my eye on optima's range of widescreen projectors, thye are definitely great value products, but until resolutions improve I won't be using them for anything more than home cinema.
1024 by 748 is too low res for a screen 3 metres wide. It doesn't look good enough to my eye.
I've deferred the project (along with VR headsets which are also too low res) until the tech and pricepoints advance a little further.

There really isn't an excessively great difference between 768 and 1080 pixel height. IMHO, you'll find that 1080p will be equally washed out in large format. It's part of the compromise in doing this type of thing though. It'll be quite awhile till 4k HD will be in the consumer market price range.
