Got my 3x U2410 in and hooked them up.

Things were looking pretty good at first sight but when I started to do my monitor tests or ran into certian colors I noticed that my center monitor had a strong pink tint to it.

Skipping the long naration of all the various testing I have done I discovered this.

> Out of my 3 monitors one of them has a strong pink tint on the right side, no matter what connection it uses the problem is there so I know its a monitor problem and I am going to send this one back.

> On all 3 monitors the one using the display port connection gains a strong pink tint.

The problem here is I do not know if its a problem with the ATI 5870 card or if its a U2410 Display Port problem.

I had this problem "go away" I think for a short period of time on the center monitor but when I started changing the connections between monitors the monitor using display port always was pink tinted and would not match. I tried to change the cable between the one I had and one of the inlucded ones so I know its not a cable issue.

There really is no way for me to test if its the monitor or the video card causing the issue with the display port, so since we do have a few other members using 3x U2410 setups and possibly eyefinity I hope to hear if anybody has similar issues.

Edit: Just relized in deep thought tonight before I put a post up on dell forums that I had the answer to my own question already.

In the question of is it the U2410 or the 5870 card causing pink tint with display port. The answer is its the U2410 because, I already had a 2408WFP on that connection only a few days prior and there was no pink tint.

So I can conclude that I have one monitor that has an actual tinting issue it fades pink as it goes to the right of the screen.

This monitor must go back.

And all 3 monitors when using display port have a pink tint, this must be a defect. This leaves me with a bit ???? though. What am I to do?

Can I justify paying for three $600 monitors to have a perfect setup and have one of them be not perfect with a pink tint?

If I say no is Dell going to refund me in full for all 3 monitors and then if they do that what should I get in its place?

Maybe I should change one of them out for a 2408?

I am unsure, but for now I posted the problem on the dell forums so they can be aware, I hope a monitor revision fixes it, and I will do the long phone call on Monday to send the one monitor back for exchange. I hope they can crosship it for me so I do not have to go without for long. I really want to test Borderlands when it comes out for 3x Monitors.

Pink tint on one side can be as simple as the bezel being to tight to the panel inside. On some screens, it can be more yellow. Thats most likely a physical defect.

The pink tint on DP needs more testing to see the issue. Could you go into the OSM/OSD of the screen thats connected to DP and choose a higher Kelvin value/color temp? Try with 9300K (or blue if its such presets) and see if that changes anything. It might help finding the cause.

You can go into custom color values and that can help but its a different present than srgb that has the special effect of reducing the colors to the srgb field.

I can also do color correction via the ati control panel, however since all colors are spot on and its just a pink tint correcting it in this way wii only mess up all the colors. Mostly white becomes now more blue, and the grey goes from pink to grey like is supposed too.

However a small increase in color temp did make things a lot better. Its not spot on but I think I can live with it. The one monitor that has the pink gradient though I cant fix that one has to go back.

Maybe with luck just a downloadable firmware update will fix the pink display port issue.

You can send it back to Dell, they will give you a different batch hopefully with the issue fixed. Really sucks you got ALL 3 monitors with the same problem.

no, what really sucks is that they are shipping dodgy panels to people.

if they have a problem, stop making them and fix it, they just hope people dont have the balls to complain.

Yep just the word IPS attracts us monitor fanatics like months to a flame. And wouldn't you know it we got burned.

Im still on edge about returning the 3rd monitor, I have not managed to color match it yet, I have it right now where there is no real pink issue but every color is about 2 shades off, and if I try to fix one color it obviously throws off another one.

In the custom color mode you have way way more options for colors, more than I have seen for any monitor ever but I cant use that mode with sRGB so thats a big problem. I can only tweak RGB values and bright/contrast

None of the hue/gamma/ect that may let me fix the issue.
