New & Confused

Post by Casey03 »

Hey All,

I been searching around the forums for a while now and i have not been able to find clear answers to what im after so ill see if someone can help me,

For years i have been playing Eve Online, I have 3 monitors connected up and play 3 versions of the game at once, All in window mode so no problem there, but now im starting to get into the Flight Sims games and i would like to be able to use all 3 of my monitors.

Now correct me if im wrong, But is the only way to be able to use all 3 is to buy one of them Matrox item things? or can it be done without that?

This is my current spec.....

Processor: I7 2.6Ghz
Ram: 6GB
Graphics Card 1: ATI 5870
Craphics Card 2: ATI 5450
Monitors All Run in Res: 1440 x 900 Max.

Any help would be great i was would like to make use of all my hardware if i can.

Thanks in advance

Your ATI card is Eyefinity capable, so assuming you run Vista or Win7 you would just need to sort out the connections from card to monitors and you're all set. This is a good place to start:

GA has the right of it there. Aside from an adaptor so you can hook the third monitor up to the DisplayPort of the 5870, you're nearly set for some EyeFinity goodness. ;)

Hey Guys

Thanks for the warm welcome,

Yeah your all correct, I was not aware that the software was built into the card, Very good indeed, Now i just need to find one of them port adaptor things and i think it will work,

At the minute with 2 screens the game is split in the middle, So im guessing you need all 3 screens for it to work good?

Cheers for the info and i am really looking forward to get thing setup :)
