surround gaming as a standard

Post by PapaLes »

I think that with the advent of eyefinity perhaps, maybe, widescreen gaming may become the norm. I think that this is the reasoning behind eyefinity in the first place. The object of every game is to immerse people into the game. We are all looking for that place where we are there. this is the beginning of a new era in gaming. I look forward to the day that I am actually there. This will not stop. Game makers have to see that this is the future and work toward this end where we are there and not just an obsearever.

Yes, I am into the porno aspect but I would like to see a story. Maybe a war time encounter. I think that these things have to blend. Part COD part [edit]. I am not promoting sex with underage people but just adding some sex into the basic FPS. Forget the cut scenes and make everything interactive.

Yes, I am a bit of a pervert. I just think killing people is not enough. lets get real. what happens in a real war? Don't people fall in love? Don't soldiers take advantage of the situation? I want to see a game that tells the truth. Good or bad.

And then it will all go to shit when the AI becomes self aware.

Wow, only two pervs here. As for the AI becoming self aware, Isn't that for the best? Then you get some response that is more real (maybe she'l have a deadache). Really I suppose that I'm looking for a game that is total in it's play. Almost all modern games swear in speach to try and make it more real, and some try to skirt things by joking about sex but they don't go there. The Japanese make explicit sex games but that's not what I mean either.I don't like the sex games because that's all there is to them. Maybe something that is normal in play but leads into something more erotic in nature. Of course this would have to have an adult rating.

Um.

I'm gonna leave the thread open in the hope it will only generate mature discussion, but I'll be keeping an eye on it ....

If you mean just having sex incorporated into the story of a game, rather than it being the game itself, I think it simply wouldn't work very well. Have you seen even a convincing in-game kiss? It's always laughable. Mass Effect is the closest I can think of recently of a game including any kind of physical relationship with your game character, and although it was fun to annoy Daily Mail readers, I don't know if it really added anything to the gameplay. :?

How the hell would you play it anyway? Would you watch? Or would it be quick-time events? I don't think I'd like it to be called that ....

I see you have given this some thought.

Matrix/Terminator/I, Robot

vs.

WALL-E

There is a lot of variation here. Sure we might get the overprotective sexbots that take care of our every need, but we could also get the overprotective sexbots who decide to kill us all.

Maybe something that is normal in play but leads into something more erotic in nature.

Well, I always thought it would be cool if someone would release an Oblivion texture pack where you could see the Ogre's junk. You know, for realism.

I agree that so far a kiss in game play is a bit cheezy. But I was thinking that with the advance in graphics and physics maybe it could be done better. As for, do you watch or do you play? it should be an option where you could switch between the two.. How this would relate to surround vision I don't know. But it would be interesting to see. But, really what I was talking about was a regular FPS game where the soldier meets a girl and falls in love. Not just the regular run and gun sort of thing. Of course you would have choices and the game could also tell a story. In other words, bring it all together to make a game that is a work of art, sort of a visual/interactive novel that uses todays tech and draws you in and not just run and gun or point and click. The sex games are just sex and the other games are just kill everything in sight or solve a puzzle. Can't it all come together as a total experience?

Consider that you are a Gemeral and have to make decisions about battle plans. You meet a girl that you are attracted to and she seduces you to get your secrets. The cat is out of the bag and now you have to deal with it. The game could have all kinds of play. Not just shooting, not just sex, it could involve strategy, force, seduction, deplomacy, the works.

I really got off track of the original intent of this thread. What I meant to say was that with EF maybe game makers should take surround gaming into account and design for it. no more fisheye. Maybe games should consider that they may be played on multiscreen and that people expect to have that option.
How I got into the other stuff I don't know. I guess I just want to be more into the game.

Single widescreen has been the norm for new monitors for a while, and developers STILL fudge widescreen, so i wouldn't expect them to get onboard with multiple monitors anytime soon. Properly, that is.

Of course I'd love it if i were proven wrong, but i doubt it. Though I've been seeing WSGF media permeating more and more websites and other discussions./articles as the months pass, which is always a good sign.

It's sometimes tough, being a cynical pessimist.

I think you're right, I think in the chase to be more involved, ultrawidescreen will become the, or at least a, standard.

I have only been using a Triplehead2go for a few days and I am hooked! I'm excited to play any game, like when I first started playing games, just to try them again with the three widescreens.

lol the irony of this thread because for weeks now I have been thinking of doing the detailed widescreen report for 3D Sexvilla 2 since it works perfectly on 3x screens at 5760x1200 :D

I forgot I even had that game, I found it when I was cleaning up my computer and uninstalling all my old stuff to make more space.

I thought Mass Effect handled it really well. Despite the polygonal characters I thought it felt emotional, it looks fine... it made sense for the story.

I know in Alpha Protocol I want to bang some hot spy babes. That is just part of the spy movie culture... if it just cuts to a black screen that is kind of lame, I want some kind of setup or something. Immature? Maybe, but it depends on subject matter... the brief glimpses of sex in the Dragon Age trailers looks kind of silly, honestly, but a modern day spy RPG? I want to see sex and boobs and I want some of the girls to talk like porn stars, I don't even care.

Depends on the game.
